Um loyalty to whom, exactly? You don't pledge to anyone before engaging in quickplay, don't you?

But how that faction knows you're fighting for it? For all it knows you could be sided with any of their foes or rivals.

At this point I don't think there's any real reason to think about it from a roleplay perspective. There's a couple thousand players left. Might as well give them something to work towards.

But the roleplay is the main part of faction competition, no? Without it, it would simply be a convoluted gameplay with potentially valuable rewards that ppl don't know any reason they should be getting at all.

If you simply want loyalty rewards, that's fine but would mean you're getting for free something that you're expected to pay for (assuming you simply play the game) – which isnt bad by itself, but given the game's "allegedly free" model, I wouldn't expect the change made solely to reduce their profits to happen.

What I would consider doing is attempting to slightly rework faction play as to make it more accessible, making it easier to go in and participate. This way people would actually be participating, and allow you to properly fight faction battle and get loyalty the existing way.

This game need's a new engine and a relaunch, there just aren't enough people interested in faction play
Shiro Dec 10, 2024 @ 1:12am
Good idea, tho 1) remake on a new engine would take considerable time and effort to produce, for olmerely a moderate new player flow; 2) new engine may (and likely will) increase system requirements, which can affect old players who didn't yet obtain stuff like rtx4090 but would like to have at least 60 fps.

they allready have everything on another engine... all they need to redo is the pvp maps and queue/matchmaking system
they didn't do that back then because it would have seperated the playerbase
angered those of us that spend hundreds of bucks on MWO hero mechs
so now we have MWO (PVP) on cryengine
and mechwarrior 5 (PVE) on unreal engine

The one thing I particularly want it for is to make the movement a bit less clunky. There's few things more annoying than being stopped in your tracks by an ankle high rock.
That being said. I feel there are some parts to MWO that look and play better than 5. I didn't get clans yet though.

They already removed scouting from faction play and that was a quicker way to get FP....they want you to play the long matches as long as faction play still exists. There would be no point in having faction play if not to get the rewards.

...OK this one really feels like they did the change to make loyalty points harder to earn. Makes me want to actually go in and participate just to spite them xd... problem is the need to have a good mechs setup. I didn't buy clan mechs so its gonna be just trial mechs if I go clan

The thing is that 95% of the time it's not possible to play FP. I would play it more if I could. But it's not possible because you need 12&12 which rarely happens
WarpSpider Dec 11, 2024 @ 4:32am
Yea that's why scouting was easier, because it was 4v4, mediums only and no respawn.
The unit i am in(FJRD) is still active 2 nights a week for faction players...so joining a unit like that can make it easier to get in matches(if you're not too much of a lone wolf).
