is it ok to play solo?
I'm a long term fan of MW4 but I've never ever tried multiplayer. This looks good enough.

However I will unlikely be able to convince my friends to try it with me. Wil lI be able to do ak as a team player if I play solo?

Yeah just communicate, yes you will get pleb groups that all try to do their own thing but thats the nature of pug groups. I have played solo most of my time on Mechwarrior Online and i still really enjoy the game

I prefer to play solo. I am not sure if the matchmaking has gotten better since the steam release but if you group with anybody you are thrown into games vs whole premades. So the match can be a few groups of 2s or 3s vs a whole premade on the other side. No online game should punish you for playing with a few friends like this.

I had much more fun playing solo which is REALLY sad.

I've been dropping solo for three years. You can have tonnes of fun doing so. Still try to work as a team though, it helps a lot

Thank you!

That said, am I likely to encounter spontaneous teamwork?
i´d personally not recommend it, though you CAN very well play solo... it just lifts the fun alot if you have some nice people to talk sh*** with while peeling off some armor...

regarding teamwork, yes, you might get lucky and get into matches where people actually communicate or at least cover each others back from time to time...

I'm a big fan of MW4 as well. Player Mercs for almost 7 years. MWO is a natural extension. It didn't take me a long time to get used to MWO. The controls and movement of a mech are generally the same. Combat is generally the same.

There is a solo que which is easier than group que and takes into account your skill level. You will start out at the easiest Tier. I bet your friends would like it. But if you really want to group up, join a unit. (we are recruiting :)

So far, in my limited experience, i do better.. far better, in faction warfare then quickplay.
Even in trial mechs i've racked up at least 5 kills per match.

Its all about hanging back, dont get overzealous and keep an eye on the radar/map.

Though i find only 1 problem with faction warfare.. well its.. not well designed.
But thats another topic really.

I've only grouped with a couple of people a few times ever and only for a short time before I get bored. I always have since this game came out just went solo and tried to win my hardest and typically done well enough. I'm not top tier but thats because I dont play hardly every for many months now.

yeah, you may come across the occasional game where there is at least one person on a mic who has a clue on how to teamwork

Yeah. I would not recommend CW until you get into a Unit and have a good selection of mechs though.

I play when ever I fell like it and then just drop on the faction map or regular maps at whim. Its fine. Couldnt be bothered with units sorry to say. :)
