Machine guns still useless?
^never figured out a use for them in MWO (no small tanks to shoot) and wondering if they got buffed (guessing not since I dont see them)

Machineguns are useful once you have the armor stripped. Their crit chance on internals can be rather handy. Certainly not a must have by any means though.

search critical hit damage , crit roll
Only good bit is the crit when the enemy has lost a lot of armor.

And they should definately not be a primary weapon. Maybe merged with small lasers if you have the room...

Less/almost no heat. Constant damage. Good to chew up light mechs with their armor taken off

target has no armor they rock...You can just wreck a mech that has an open area.. Great fun for mechs that are fast.. Lights, some mediums.. Better weapons to use on larger mechs, but a few you can run um in pairs, for certain brawlers.

That said, they are not used in high end play.. and really have to be used, in at least 2, but 3 or 4 is best. the medium hero, arrow, is a heck of a lotta fun with 6 machine guns an a pair of Large pulse lasers..

Cicada 3C, can run a ERPPC, with 4 pretty well too.. Though it is a very nitch mech, and pretty average over all.

Spider has a 4 machine gun, and the Hero Raven huggin, and Hero Firestarter ember. Jagers can use um too..,.. for the most part those are really the ones that do it fairly well.


For clan side, i am not sure which ones do it best..


Maybe a buff will come for them and Flamers... We can only hope

Machine guns are used to Critical out Components once the armor is stripped....I suggest using a minimum of 2 for the best chances.....the flamers are useful for blinding and overheating an enemy and will also damage internal structure once the armor is down

I think you have more success shewing through the front armor of an atlas with a machinegun spider.

You know, I tried that once... in the atlas's pelvis. Then again, I was using an ER large with that...

not sure how good your twitch hand is.. but MGs are good for taking out cockpits too

They are best used in groups of 2-4+, they also are best used on fast mechs.. slow mechs they become very situational..

and they got buffed! woot!
