Whichever one has streaks.
A MMO version was talked about in year 2 with players being in a Faction house of ether inner sphere or clan.
AS a player like Battlefield then you could progress into a MechWarrior and play back and forth as a Soldier or a MechWarrior throughout the Faction Campaigns as a 12 v 12 group.
But like I said nothing ever came of the plan submitted to PGI you have to understand If the idea did not come from Russ he rejected all plans, advice or any communication from his fans or players until most left the game.
Russ had a favorite saying to then it was (You all are living on a Island) and he even made a sarcastic cockpit item to show how futile the community efforts are to have any input into His game.
And MWO players hate it, because you have to:
Choose a faction (Clan or Inner Sphere)
Stay the whole time in the match, not rage quit after losing the first mech
Have to work together as team instead just blowing up big robots without caring about teammates.
MWO players don't want that.
They want fast short matches without the need of grouping up first and agree on a leader or even coordinating mechs & loadouts.
I would say this only applies to 10-20 percent of the MW0 player base Most don't remember Faction play, scouting or 8v8 team matches so basically they don't understand what they missed back in year 1-3 . And i will not go into who is to blame on this subject.
"I'm glad you mentioned this because I've had similar idea for years on how to better develop the BattleTech universe as a massive interactive open universe battle ground. Much like you said, players could pursue a variety of roles from mech pilot, merc business, production/supply operations, jump ship pilot, aerospace or ground vehicle pilots etc, and align to any of the major house, minor factions, clans or host of lesser criminal elements. Conflicts of control for planets (resources, "centers of gravity") would be decided by the higher ranking players (vet players that have achieved a sort of General status to influence/vote on battle strategies for their faction) and declared/announced, which would allow for other other players to join in and pit their own forces (MechCommander style strategic battles with special quest missions accomplished in smaller traditional MW battles by those players wanting MWO type of action) into the fray to share the spoils or conquest goals etc. The players would essentially decide the fate and stories through their interaction and pursuit for control of the universe. There'd be no limited story arcs and infinite "replay" value.
This is the direction I wish they pursue instead of more of the same MW-style story arc rubbish we've seen for decades.... like the creativity of developers in BT and MW is still in a 1980's box set lol. So limited and disappointing."
