I do have one mech I want and without Ferro Fibrous I would have more place.
if its still same armor, i could do that.
Ok thanks , helped me to buy a mech, where I could only proper equip him without this armor.
Ammount of maximum armor does not change .
Endo-Steel frees 5% of your maximum at the cost of 14 slots . It seems that Endo-Steel is always better if you pick one or the other .
If you using Light mech that does not need DHS or XL engine you might be able to fit both .
I do always make Max Armor on my mechs, so if Ammount of maximum armor does not change is the same, I dont need that ?
I don't think there is a build in existence that can't be made better by using Endo Steel.
No. We are not there yet where IS developed Ablative and Reflective armor based on Ferro.. right now all Ferro does is provide the same protection for less tonnes.
Well if you feel like you do not gain anything from Endosteel, then don't use it. There is no law that says you have to use it. Just in my experience you are usually more strapped for extra tonnage than you are for extra crit slots.
Well you spend less tons for more armor , but armor ammount does not change so if it says you have 15 armor you still have 15 armor . You just saved some weight .
I'll keep it as straightforward as possible.
Ferro-Fibrous weighs less than Standard armour.
1 point of Ferro protects the same as 1 point of Standard.
Ferro requires 14 slots of your Battlemech.
As a side note.
Endo-steel requires 14 slots as well, and gives larger weight savings.
I.S. Ferro Armor = 35.8 points Per ton (12% more per ton) uses 14 Critical Slot on a Mech
Clan Ferro Armor = 38.4 points Per ton (20% more per ton) uses 7 Critical Slot on a Mech
Nor sure if they are using the Noraml 4/5 rounding or Rounding up or Down o rDropping the Decimal. I never dug that deep.
Put Endo steel on every mech unless you can actually use all the slots without it which is rare.
Use Ferrofib if a mech that already has endo steel has 14+ slots available
Never choose to add FerroFib over Endosteel or you are gimping yourself
The upgrades use slots to give you extra weight for more Heatsinks and weapons/ammo
Endo steel is the better weight saver
Most light mechs can fit both a few mediums too but most heavies and assaults cannot fit both
