Why are the Mech names changed from Inner Sphere to Clan names, like Mad-Cat to Timber Wolf ?

Why would Clan pilots call their mechs by Inner Sphere designations?
Inner sphere calls them different names.

This game uses the correct designations (ie, the names that the creators of the mechs gave them).

In some cases they do. The "newer" Clan mechs that were released shortly before the Invasion were a case where clan pilots were unused to their clan designation that they would pick up calling them by their innersphere name.

The Ebon Jaguar was such a case: http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Ebon_Jaguar_(Cauldron-Born)

The Timber Wolf was called Madcat by the Innersphere because their targeting computers couldn't decide on which 'paper model* to use and would flip between Catapult and Marauder. Thus Mad-Cat. In other cases the IS targeting computers never had seen these mechs. Thus they needed new designations. And since the Clans weren't kind enough to hand over a list of their mechs and designations the IS had to come up with their own designations. Like say the Warhawk being called Masakari because it was predominatly used against the Japanese Kurita population and they gave it a name based on Japanese Mythology.

"Vaguely resembling a cross-over between the MAD (Marauder) and CAT (Catapult) series, the Timber Wolf was tagged with the Inner Sphere reporting name Mad Cat on first contact. (The targeting computer on Phelan Kell's Wolfhound switched between MAD and CAT when trying to identify it; Precentor Martial Anastasius Focht later officially designated it "Mad Cat".[3][6][7]"

But would it now make more sence to see as Inner Sphere pilot the Inner Sphere name ?

Possibly, but i think it would be terribly confusing for people not accustomed to the lore if IS mechs would use a different identification for Clan Mechs.

Em this way it was in all previous Games, besides why not optional to choose if "clan or Inner Sphere" names ? With Daishy you get what thats it, by Dire Wolf , if you mistake it for Timber its just lol.

And PGI already felt that their audience is to stupid, needing a directional arrow on the HUD because they assume new players are confused by the idea of independently moving body and torso. And you think they'd implement something as confusing as that for the imbeciles they believe their audience are?

Cmon there are even people who cant find wood in warcraft

I just miss this names that from good old days.
Example Kit fox, what the hell is kit fox, ah its the Uller lol.

Man I am not surprised a lot of old fans didnt like this here.

Point to some evidence that "a lot of old fans didn't like this" (sic). You alone are not "a lot."

I understand what you mean. I do sometimes call enemies out by their IS names in chat... its just quicker to type "Madcat in C5" than "Timberwolf in C5".

How about this then: Why would pilots use their enemy's designations for their own mechs?

In all the previous mechwarrior games there were single-player campaigns played from the Inner Sphere perspective. It made sense to use Inner Sphere designations. In this game however, pilots can start out as a member of a Clan. Makes more sense to use the designers designation.

I'll admit, it took a little while to get used to it. Now though, I struggle to remember what a Daishi or Blackhawk is.
