I wish i coudl quickly derank without it being a super boring process to escape comp players groupdropping lmao
Its called NASCAR Jump-sniping with never miss players and unlimited shots with no refresh time on weapons YAY welcome to Tier1-2. Fun Stuff=Not. Best tier is 5 and 4.
from tier 5 to tier 4 play medium to assault mech (command console) with active probe sensors + targeting computer + lrms
just let rockets rain the whole game + lock at map to make sure you dont stand alone
Whether you rank up is not decided by your own performance in a vacuum, but by how it relates to that of your teammates and opponents. The most reliable way to rank up is to just crank out ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of damage (which yes, LRMs work decently for provided you don't stand still and don't repeatedly send your salvos into hillsides ), and light mechs tend to have lower potential for that than heavier classes.
No, quickplay is not team based.
12 random players that are mixed together for one match are not a team.
All that spread out or NASCAR and bad positioning happens because the random match creation.
Players in higher tiers are not better team players - they still don't care about other players in green - they have just more experience in how the map is usually played.
If you want a team in MWO you should drop in a group and use a own VOIP.
In a group you get real team based gameplay with players communicating and working together.
You can even coordinate the loadout of all mechs before entering matchmaking so that at least one mech has ECM and all mechs are of more or less equal speed and compatible weapons.
mwo seems to revolve around coordinated group efforts, making firing lines, pushing together, agreeing where to go at the start of the match ect. sure ideally it would be with a team you actually communicate with, but people could just assume the position silently which is what I expected in higher ranks or for people with a mic to actually try and coordinate the team more often
id say its a team based game no one plays right
Piranha with heavy meds and lmgs are great too, mid-range dps. https://mwo.nav-alpha.com/mechlab?b=6ade7d91_PIR-A
The trick is to not care about "your team" or the victory but instead doing as much damage and getting kills.
Use the other players in your teams as meatshields.
Don't go back to help an other player that get left behind in the NASCAR and is swarmed by faster mechs.
MWOs quickplay is designed to prevent coordinated group efforts.
The teams are made up for one match and than dissolved.
-> that prevents the natural team building that happen in other games there players stay together for multiple matches
The pre-match lobby time is to short to agree on a leader or on a common tactic.
-> no coordination
The VOIP is one big channel for 12 players, so any info you share to one player may distract 10 other players.
-> no communication
You play Quickplay right by don't giving a dam about the team.
Stay alive and don't go back to help.
That's the way to score kills and damage and rise in the player tier.
You either deal with that or highly skilled 4 mans. I'm in the middle and i prefer the scatter
as far as mech to play, it really is up to you. Which every you enjoy the most and do well in is what i would pick. That said, 2 mechs for me for C-bills are the Timber BH and Direwolf C (the one with ECM) they are the two c-bill versions of mechs in the Warden pack) the timber is a 2 large pulse, 4/5 MPL monster and the dire can run 7UAC2's or 2UAC10+3UAC5+ 12 ERSL (i think it's twelve anyway) I just love the mech though. It's a bit slow but can really dish some damage.
The game should make is so players like us can at LEAST get to tier 3 with enough work, time and effort. Even when I play what I think is the best possible I could do in a battle, I get an = in the end. :/
