When you see an enemy and the red triangle outline appears, press the R key.

Not only will your team know the enemy position, you will also be able to see the enemy weak points a moment later.

But don't tell anyone else - it's a secret!

There is also a little mini map in the bottom center of the screen that ill show you where tareted enemies are in relation to you. This will help kepp people from spending minutes looking to the right for the Mech that is shooting them from the left.

The Irony is... other games have spot keys. Many games have you press Q to spot.. and i think maybe if the game rewarded you for it, people would do it more often. I mean GXP and Money Rewards..

Not just the first lock of the day.. i mean every point of damage done by a mech you locked longer than anyone else, gives you extra credits or something.

I think we'd see people lock it much more often.

The funny thing is, i partially suspect they expect their radar to pick up and share the enemy locations with the team or something and not just the locked targets.

Add in the disdain so many people carry for LRM players... i think most believe if they lock their targets the evil LRM boat on their team will killsteal them or something.


Every day i play, if i even get to spectate, i see offenses, that could have turned the game around, crumble, because some idiot on the flank didn't lock their target and all of the sudden you have an Atlas on a flanking motion killing people left and right and the chat goes "WTF did just happen?! Where did my team go!"

And i know that feeling very well... you are standing there, holding your flank, you just opened it up and move in for the kill and the counter jumps from 8 teammates left alive to 3... and nothing on the minimap even indicating what the heck just happened.

That is always the point at which i realize that someone again must have removed the R key from their keyboard, because what is it good for anyway?

Locking is for newbz and LURM lovers, right? Right guys? No... its not... lock your damn target so i know what the heck is going on at the other side of the map, so i can move to assist you, or at least move to prevent the rest of the team from being facerolled!

Intel is everything.
