Other points of note:
- All of the presently available mechs *except* the Kodiak and the IIc mechs (that is, any mech with IIc as part of its name, such as Hunchback IIc) are Omnimechs, meaning you can swap out the different locations (head, arms, side torsos and legs) from other variants in the same way as swapping out weapons (the variant that you are using for experience and such is determined by the Center Torso).
The advantage here is that you can customize hardpoints/available weapons across to suit your taste...the drawback is that there are a number of things you cannot change, such as engines and chassis upgrades (FF or Endo).
- Most upgrades (Double Heat-Sinks, Ferro-Fibrus Armor, etc) and equipment (Engine, MASC and Jump Jets) are hard-locked into the omnipod and cannot be changed. Pieces of equipment that you cannot change will appear grey in color, similar to actuators, live support, etc.
- Some upgrades (Artemis) and equipment (Targeting Computers, ECM) are changeable. Those that are will appear light blue in color just like normal.
- Clan BattleMechs (Kodiak and IIc Mechs) behave like Inner Sphere mechs when it comes to customization. This means that you can NOT swap out omnipods like you can with OmniMechs. These mechs also have the option of making use of Standard Engines you may already own (which can be convenient)...but NOT any XL Engines. You will have to purchase Clan XL Engines.
I hope this helps.
...though I will admit, I only go into the in-game store when responding to posts like this because I have far more mechs than what I know what to do with...
those are available for C-bils, MC and real money (your choice what to use, although some mechs are not available in all payment methods), either from the website (only real for real money there) or in the in game store (tab on the top corner of your screen). but generally clan mechs are a bit more expensice than IS one. also their equipement usually is a bit more expensive. but they do have their advantages (and also their disadvantages)
