Yes I could log into the main website and forums. It turns out I think something was corrupted in my User file. Here is what PGI support replied with and my response after finally resolving the issue.

Hello there,
Please replace the attributes.xml located in C:\Users\<USER>\Saved Games\MechWarrior Online\Profiles\<PILOT NAME> folder with the attached file.
If you still get the error message, please reinstall the MWO Portal and run the Repair Tool again.
If it does not detect the game as installed, initiate the installation and make sure to set the same directory as the current game folder, then restart the Portal and run the Repair tool.

Hello GM Zen,
Thank you for your reply and instructions. I did not realize the Repair Tool could be run via the MWO Portal Launcher, and I had been trying to run it via the app in the folder. Trying to run it via the folder kept failing due to another error I mentioned in a previous message, but running the Repair Tool as you instructed did work. So thank you for that.
However, after following your instructions I still ran into the same error again and again. So I decided to uninstall the game and install it again, but via Steam. This ended up having the exact same result, the launcher would open, but after signing in with my email and password it would error "Code 2."
So this time, instead of replacing the file you provided, I decided to delete that entire folder found under C:\Users\<USER>\Saved Games. Then I reinstalled the game and it worked at last. I believe that something became corrupted in that user folder which was corrected once I reinstalled it.
Thank you for your assistance. I sincerely appreciate your time and help. I wish you a great week and again that you are healthy and safe during these difficult times.
Sincerely,
