You don't need traditional-style wallhacks/aimbots in MWO, really. All you need is ESP and something that targets specific components. I think I encountered a bear pilot with the latter last night. He was hitting my center torso with perfect precision at all times when we had LoS to each other, even when I was shaking his screen with my autocannons. Then when I died, he did the same thing to another team member. Then the round ended.
Standby to be attacked by the "there are no hacks git gud" crowd for your non-naive level-headed perspective...
I've yet to use or even buy the SS Mech mod... Never felt the need for it... with my headset and playstyle it's like i'm using the Gundam Zero System, fully aware of everything around me...
Issue with a situation like this is that a player not using hacks can also commonly do this. Since screenshake doesn't actually effect your aim at all physically a lot of experienced players just keep aiming normally and firing at enemy CT, especially against a player who is shaking their screen with autocannons, meaning that player would have to be in a position where they both can get clear shots on each other's CT.
Even I've been able to focus on specific enemies when I'm trying to make a last stand. For example being in my Banshee taking out the enemy Banshee while his remaining team members are raining on me with LRMs, hitting me with autocannons, and the enemy Banshee was twisting. All I really had to do was focus on what I wanted to hit, tune out the interference, and fire. I died, but only right after he did.
That being said, I've seen two wall hacks in-game in the last two years, so I can't really say that it's an epidemic.
More often than not if a player thinks someone is hacking. They are.
More often than not, if a player comes to the forums complaining about it, they will get trolled by really bads saying hackers are just good players..
Bottom line, use the complaint button in game often and when ever it seems like its proper to do. The cheats do get banned and it isnt very common because of that. Even a very low percentage of cheats can ruin a large percentage of matches. It sucks but consider it good practice for legit players and let the trash be taken out in due time.
Stop making sense. It'll upset the e-peeners...
Ot they are paranoid, and fail to understand the game mechanics...
Hacking happens, but the instances of it are few and far between.
In my experieince, when someone makes a unbelievable statement like that, it typically means they have tried them all and are probably using the best one they could find right now. How could someone who has been online gaming more than 2 weeks in FPS shooters not know that wall hacks exist?

The ban hammers did come (except for the big spenders that were caught, from what I understand - stay classy, PGI!) but there is nothing that is stopping current players from using this(although, I do agree with Nightmare1, the percentage is probably low...then again, lots of alt accounts in the quick queue...). Which is why what Flippy said makes sense....for any online game.
TLDR: Don't be naive about the existance of online cheating.
