Kodiak vs Cyclops (save money)
I saw the Cyclops non-impressive quirks, I thought they were going to match the cyclops to challenge the kodiak. but maybe the only IS mech to face the kodiak is still the atlas.

Any opinions?

The Cyclops isn't designed to counter the Kodiak, no. It's designed to bring sensor range to bear in a platform with a heavy weapon load. And it has accel/deceleration and turning boosts, so it's somewhat nimble for a 90 tonner.

Base sensor range = 950 meters.
Add Beagle Probe or Sensor Range module = 1187 m
Add both = 1425 m
Sprinkle in command console = 1482 m

Don't worry, you'll have your p2w mech for about a month before they release/nerf it for c-bills

Well so maybe can be a lrm boat with that sensor range and the ecm

I'm planning dual AC/5 and triple LPL for the ECM variant.

For the one with 7 missile hardpoints (and no ECM), 3 ERLL, 7 SRM4.

Cyclops seems to be a jack of all trades with good sensors, but won't beat a Kodiak in a 1v1. It can ballistic boat like a Mauler on one variant, Missile boat like an archer on another, laser boat with another, and run a generic brawling on others. Really a lot of options for the chassis. Comes with a super high engine cap so it can run faster than a Kodiak if you max it out and can still bring some high SRM damage.

Most common mistake from LRM boats is trying to bring rain 1km away from target. You are not going to hit anything from that distance, target has too much time to get in cover. Optimal range for LRMs is more like 200-300 meters. Sensor range boost is usefull, but not with that idea.

Well my opinion as an atlas guy is that facing the kodiak just gets you killed in seconds unfortunately. Never expected a cyclops to match a kodiak either, that things in a class of its own.
