So, cut the political crap and realize that your personal views on political matters both present and past don't matter buggerall on the internet. So next time try to refrain from talking controversy that is, in fact, not allowed.
Also, this sounds a LOT more like you attacking Muslims than simply saying Christians are not Terrorists. Specifically...
That is already treading on very thin ice there. I like how you say Muslims, not Terrorists. And given what you may not be telling us about other potential interactions...? Well, mate. Next time keep your views to yourself. But I'm rather convinced this was not your first bit of misconduct, and the only way to get banned with no warning would be if you had common complaints against you.
I'm pretty sure PGI has pulled the same crap about "we can do whatever the hell we want with your account" on this game.
As for the thread... Vassago summed it up pretty well.
Still beyond me that it took ya that long to figure out talking about such politics is generally no-no in gaming. Unless it's battlenet...
If you wouldn't say it to a stranger standing in line at the grocery store what makes it OK to say in a video game?
As my father used to say "Arguing religion is like playing the tables in vegas: you're just another sucker who is guarenteed to lose in the end." You are also guarenteed to offend somone be it black, lesbian, one armed worshiper of some guy who got nailed to a log or a poligimous monster-truck driving asian left-handed cross-dressing follower of the religion of peace.
Is the OP telling the truth? and this really was just a perma-ban over "historical lessons?"
Or perhaps it's about an accumulation of reports from his behavior over a longer strength of time (that he does not recall) of harassment and/or threats?
Which is more likely? PGI going full PC mode to censor an innocent guy. Or a lying person that's being f- calling everyone with opposing views that got a large number of reports filed on him?
Which... if there's a lesson here, is that... if you are going to joke and/or make offensive comments, spread them out so not 11 reports is going to file against you for 10 games in a row.
Despite what the warning says, if you (OP) really feel like there's a misunderstanding, call their corporate headquarter. See what evidence they got against you. If all else fail, call your lawyer. If you are right, and they are just a massive PC douche, then have no qualms about suing their pants off. Either way, I don't think you will be playing the game afterward anyhow.
Yeah I imagine they have some decent leeway just due to the size of their client's accounts. They can technically overstep a ban on someone, but if they won't budge when called out on it and no one takes them to court over it, they kinda win. I don't see many people going to court against a company for what they spent ~$100 on.
It sucks and is totally unethical, but it doesn't surprise me if they have or still do toe that line and inch across every so often of what's technically within their power, when it comes to bans.
An indefinite ban is handed out only in the case of preventing other players from quitting over a perceived abusive player, and it's not something they do lightly. It's a choice of reducing the player base by 1 or risk reducing the player base by more than 1.
So making comments on evil muslims right after 50 people got killed by some psychopath who had no legitimate ties to any Islamic group, terrorist or otherwise, might have been tossing gasoline onto a fire.
Everyone in the world seems to think that we as a nation tend to be soft and easy going. This is true to an extent, however check history and ask any person or nation that has ever backed us into a corner what happens. That soft easy going exterior disappears really really fast.
However I think here that there just might have been a bit more going on. Oh and yes as a paying customer generally you might get a little more leeway with some groups, but when your are driving away other paying customers.
sorry to hear that you have been banned, but usually that means that you have been reported for toxic behaviour in many cases, not just the recent situation that comes to your mind.
If you feel like that is not the case, write to the company, but be prepared that they take a stance and keep that account banned.
I totally agree in principle. I'm just saying it's legally required for PGI to have included in that EULA something that this guy violated. Not saying he did or didn't, I'm just throwing out the hypothetical that if some company just banned someone without refund on a whim, there could easily be a court case. If he paid for services and agreed to terms he upheld, they can't just ban him for no reason.
It's just the cynicism in me that says that maybe this might have happened, and people have just never taken them to court over it because it's not a big deal. Total speculation though, I'm really just rambling.
Dude. Have you learned nothing? Knock if off. Seriously. You aren't doing yourself any favors.
I could (if I were completely nuts) go out tommorrow and commit some insane attrocity and claim my allegiance to some christian or american institution on the phone or anywhere else. This would not constitute a connection this would be an insane person trying to use another organization to give legitimacy to thier insanity.
There have been crazies around for as long as I can remember, McDonalds, Schools, public events, someone even shot up an amish school.
Stop legitimizing psychopaths, stop giving them power by linking them to something bigger. Treat them as exactly what they are, pathetic lost disenfranchised people that somehow we missed, people who should have been helped or jailed long ago, not made into some sort of reverse hero.
By linking this loser to something bigger you are making him more than he was. We should be downplaying this person. In reality nothing about the killers should ever even be mentioned, just only that some psychopath killed people. Then you can focus on the victims and maybe spend the airtime on thier stories.
As long as people are willing to elevate nutcases like this it will keep happening and they will be heroes to the other psychos.
