MadDog is probably top 2 LRM boaters in game just because of that insane LRM speed boost with 2XLRM20 (single slot omnipods )
If you want to go for overall best LRM boater that would be Warhawk .
Disclaimer: Only my opinion and open for discussion.
But if I was forced to use an LRM Failboat I would be using a TBR-D with 4 LRM10's and 4 MPLs to start with, or this

My Tempest though doesn't use missiles of any kind though, only use LPLs and MLs on it... Those "ears" on it stick way too high up over the mech and is easily shot and hit while behind cover.. and when I do drive a mech that has LRMs, I prefer to engage my targets at 300-400m while using all my weapons on the target...
I'd take archer for SRMs, but it doesn't offer anything particularly special for LRMs. Mad Dog has the quirked pods.
But if I had to use LRMs at all, it wouldn't be on a Mad Dog or Archer. Hunchie/Awesome, maybe.
What a century when subjective opinions need a disclaimer for being subjective opinions in a context where it should be assumed subjective opinions are in fact subjective opinions. Not a bone on you (it's become a semi-necessity when there's people around that attack for such dumb reasons), just in general.
You are speaking of Base firing arcs... those depend on the mech and the the angle the tubes are angled or is able to angle... Take the Warhammer as an example, it has missile HPs but they are low angled designed for SRMs and not LRMs.. (I laugh when I see WHMs with LRMs) and the Atlas.. it too also has most tubes set at a low angle for SRMs and not LRMs...
So in short it isn't the faction that dictates the the firing arch of Missiles, but it's the mech in question.... Which the optimal firing arc to attain the max range of a solid launched object is 45*, Many mechs lack this angle, and fire with a lower angle... Hence isn't able to fire over things/cover that is in front of them....
so I ask each time to be sure.
So the Mad Dog is better ? Ok than I would not get both of them.
Right now I do have for LRM
Jenner IIC
well somehow it does die pretty easy and is like made out of paper
even 4 times lrm5 and max engine to keep distance, does not feel like I help my team.
Stormcrow with 2 times Artemis 20, is epic + 1080 ammo and some lasers.
Warhawk with 2 times Artemis 20, 1080 ammo and med pulse lasers 6 times.
This Orion IIC with 4 times Artemis 10.

Sounds weird for sure for most, but the best mech I can run is that LRM Atlas.
I mean he is mcuh better at LRM in my opinion that the other mech I do have.
So its hard for me to find a "suitable replacement" by teh Innere Sphere Mechs

A key reason why I play Mechwarrior 4 as much, if not more than MWO.

Its really good to kill any Assault , Heavy or Medium, OK lights are a problem for him.
I get with him anyway pretty easy the most damage done by my team.
My KDK-3, NTG, WHM's and TBR's would eat that AS7 up for a midday meal easily....
