Builds for Uziel!
So, almost all of us got the Uziel gift. Do you have any build advices that would fit in nicely in either Solaris 7 or Quick play?

I logged in and have been notified I got that Mech, but in the Solaris 7 game mode I still only have Uziel Trial 'Mech.

Did you check it from change mech menu?

No, if you say you got it, I'm sure it's there. I didn't have the time to look around, will check that later.

Uziel is placed in Division 7 in Solaris. I would strongly advise against taking it into Solaris for that reason. Should you insist on taking it into Solaris you are pretty much locked to this build: UZL-3P(C)[mwo.smurfy-net.de]

Reason for this is quite simple. Division 7 is Dominated by Vindicators with some big mrm launcher (20s and 40s are popular), Centurions Yenlowang with some version of the Ac20 and Shadowhawk Grey Death.... and quite frankly the Uziel has a very broad surface to hit. Speed and Range is not a factor, as it will be fairly close quarters. You see the occasional Panther which will be able to outmaneuver you with that build. The locust isn't much of an issue, largely because you can deal with them by choosing an arena that takes their ability to move (just deny Ice and Jungle).

You can play around with the Armor values, i didn't touch them, a little and maybe cramp a 2nd Heatsink in. But you should keep your jump jets in the legs and the Ammo in the head.

For Quickplay.. which is where i think you should keep the mech, you have pretty much 2 options... either you make it an PPC boat... UZL-3P(C)[mwo.smurfy-net.de] or... UZL-3P(C)[mwo.smurfy-net.de] (i suggest the former to the later)

Which means you keep it in midrange, harass the enemy. Try not to poptart to much.

Or you take advantage of its uac jam chance quirk and make it a harasser: UZL-3P(C)[mwo.smurfy-net.de]

The ER small lasers are purely decorational and only to be used if you run out of ammo. This variant also can be done with dual uAC/2s, in which case i suggest upgrading to ER Medium lasers and adding a Heatsink.

Or you go all in on the harasser: UZL-3P(C)[mwo.smurfy-net.de]

Despite the looks... keep in mind... the Uziel is not a Brawler. Its a short range harasser build... you use your speed to dance back and forth and use cover as you fire your shot, and disappear. If you are super crazy... you can run this build with an XL reactor to get even more speed.

And there is one more build i feel obliged to share, even though i am not recommending it. UZL-3P(C)[mwo.smurfy-net.de]

Personally i wouldn't use the flamers and just use some ER Mediums... but i have seen people run this build as harasser to effect. Finding a mech that is separated from the pack... ran up to it, flame it.. and then kill it with the uAC/10 and the MGs.

The ones thave I have seen in Solaris is HMGs with 2 M. Pulse, really scary but not as scary as my LBX20 on my Grey Death.

My Quickplay variant is a Large Pulse Laser with 3lmgs, It has been doing Decent Damage as a Second Line unit. Though if caught out in solo fight you going to struggle.

The problem i am having with LPL on the Uziel is its huuuuuuge hump. People will see you coming before you even turn the corner, because that thing is so huge. Which is why the Uziel seems to do better with PPCs to further reduce exposure and allow you that much quicker stowing that huuuuuuge hump behind something.

I've played the champion mech about 6 matches last night. Decent sucess with following: two large pulse lasers, 3 light machine guns and one SRM 4. Mech does best as a second line harasser that can move in on an outnumbered enemy. Yes it is squishy but the 10% range quirck helps. I prefer to use lasers or PPC's in torsos as arms are too easily destroyed. UAC jam quirk is nice but even with that, I find UAC's still jam too much on first or second double tap. You cannot rush ahead or you will quickly be targeted, stay back and harass enemy. Skilling up mech will help with survivability, range. heat reduction and cooldown. With these, you can shoot your lasers or PPC's very fast. Not much alpha in any build but over time you can pump out some damage. Conisder a 350-500 match damage score a win.

crap mech, i slapped a LRM5 on it and 2 PPCs..... because that mech you dont want to go up close range with as it will usually die pretty fast..... so things that die fast i tend to try to keep at long range. managed to get around 300 damage in matchs with it keeping at range, but yeah as soon as enemy closes that range and gets to you, your dead! lol

I seem to do good no matter what I put into this mech. I like having 2 heavy ppc and a couple double heatsinks. Lots of fun.

Ishan's snub PPC variant is also fine, but unoptimized. There are free slots for Ferro, and there's really no reason to ever take SRM 6 over SRM 4 (just a 12.5% DPS difference) unless you're boating them in an assault and have the spare tonnage. Otherwise, good for medium-range poptarting. I'd do it like this:

yeah I had a 700+ damage game earlier today. This mech is pretty good if you pop out, shoot, then move to a new spot and repeat. Stay behind cover until your PPC is ready to fire again.

That extra DPS makes all the difference in a 1v1, and there is no real reason to waste the cbills on the light Ferro for a few more points armor in the legs and head. Sure, if you have the money spare i suppose taking 1 more medium laser won't hurt, but there is no point in armoring the arms and nobody is shooting the legs off of a Uziel unless they happen to be badly damaged for some reason. Its not like the Uziel is a small target. Its a walking barn door.

If you really want to use a SRM4, then you can at least shell out for an Artemis, that would make the SRM4 the better option, for quickplay.

Money should never be a consideration in fitting a mech. It's a time sink, sure, but you absolutely shouldn't design your builds around saving C-Bills.

Unless you're super-casual, I guess.
