Big thing about the Ebon Jaguar is that it is no Front Line Mech With how it's hitboxes are and being a Clan wich has very low structure, overall like the Hellbringer you are going to get recked. The way the Crab is built makes it easier to splash damage between CT, ST and Arms. The EBJ is much more pancake so spreading the damage is much harder.
The Role for it is turning it into a Range Unit, third line to Second Line. The most common builds that I have seen for the mech which have gone some good is Guass Rifle with PPC or Gauss Rifle with 2 ER Large. Really good build if you like to snipe.
I never thought to take structure in to account. I fully upgraded all the armour and structure on my Crab as high as it would go where as the EBJ is locked how it is, so that makes a lot more sense. I'll try slapping a Gauss Rifle on and see how it goes!
Many people run the Ebon Jaguar mid range with 6 ER medium lasers and 2 large pulse lasers, giving it effective engagement ranges of 400-500m usually.
Ebon has good tonnage, speed and flexible good hardpoints though.
You can use ST pods for several builds and those weapon will go above cockpit very high. When you equip the mech use the "Column" view mode to see weapon locations. With energy weapons you might need to pad the first hardpoint with some useless low weight laser to push the rest into the shoulder box.
If you use those high mounts use it like Hellbringer or Battlemaster, just peek little over a ridge to see enemy, fire and then pull back. Left torso can give you two high energy mounts, right torso can give one high ballistic or one high energy. Due to ghost heat using one gauss two PPC is not very effective anymore, firing them takes too long and is demanding in timing. I don't know how great is like gauss and two large pulse, probably not that great but at least you can practice not dying fast.
ER-M large pulse boat is probably good. You can also have 3UAC5 and a lot of ammo to shoot well outside of your optimal range.
here's a link[mwo.smurfy-net.de] to my current build. you can probably replace the right arm lasers for a pair of heat sinks to make it run a bit cooler
a few tips with it though is that you never front line with the thing, its too soft for it, just stay behind the tankier mechs... it can brawl fine but not really recommended
That small pulse laser..... what do you have a small pulse laser for on that thing?
You also have no ammo for the LBX2s.
I suggest you exchange the ER Mediums and the small pulse for Quad ER Smalls. You can then fire the Heavy Mediums followed by the ER Smalls. You'll have a ton more for ammo...
Maybe trade the LBX2's and the 10 for Tripple 5s. Or better yet... uAC/5s...
Along this line: EBJ-A[mwo.smurfy-net.de] :)
