What are decent PPC builds recommended now?
Hi guys, just wondering for the new patch, what are some recommended and decent PPC builds now.

I tried using 2 Light PPCs with my Thunderbolt 5S but did not really get very far with it, so just wondering what other people use now?

With the changes to peeps you should be looking at mechs that can boat 3 PPCs and jump jets to poptart with them. And remember that LPPCs don't deal much damage - 2 LPPCs is inadequate for anything above a light mech.

So how do you use Light PPCs then?

You generally don't outside of meme builds.

actually, they can be used on lighter chassis after the recent patch. Those who can't run a HPPC reliably, can use 3 LPPCs for a decent punch.

Keeping in mind that HPPCs and LPPCs have substantially worse cooldowns now. Used to be that you could take two LPPCs instead of a PPC - or three instead of a HPPC - and get equivalent performance but this is no longer the case.

Well now there is a Event with a Free Grasshopper, that one can be build as a PPC Boat. Pack 1x HPPC and 1xLPPC in each Torso and then you can decide if you want a Light Engine with no JJ but superior Heat Capabilities OR you go full Squishy Mode and Take a XL Engine with 4x JJ AND you can pack another LPPC in the Center Torso.

Makes for a pretty nasty PPC Setup.

If you prefer more Armor take out a Awesome (dont know which Type) with 1x HPPC in both Torsos and one in its Arm. Makes 3x HPPC which is really nasty if you keep your Distance. Otherwise there arent any good PPC Setups out there except for the Clanners and even those are very limited except maybe a Shadowcat or something like that.

I'm still stubbornly sticking to my dual ER PPC builds, but I ditched a bunch of heat sinks for giant targeting comps and I'm liking the crits and 3000m+ velocity.

Triple ER PPCs is probably the sweet spot for most people. Deals good damage and many builds can even get off an alpha.

Quad PPC builds still run too hot IMO. Getting hit with it hurts but I've seen too many people panic and shut down at the worst time or blow themselves up to be impressed.

Scariest thing I've run into is a pair of Heavy PPCs and medium lasers. (On a thunderbolt, actually.) Instant ST loss and not a thing I could do about it. I haven't had a chance to try it myself yet but I'm certainly going to the next time I'm online.

The vapor eagle with 3erppc is still a viable build. There is even wiggle room for a small targeting computer. It's a poptart build so it can't really stand it's ground, and needs to be careful in positioning in case some speed freak lights swarm it. It doesn't have ecm, you can't play it like a shadow cat sniper.

Nova cat prime - 4ppcs

Warhawk prime - 4ppcs + tc1

Highlander iic-a - 4ppcs + tc1

Grasshopper 5H - 2hppcs + 4ml

Vapor eagle 1,3 - 3ppc

Blackjack 3- 2hppcs

Awesome 8Q - 3hppc, 3-4mlas

There. Best ppc mechs.

Ps: clan ppc splash values are wrong, they do more damage then intended. Enjoy using OP clan ppcs now.

Using 3xLPPC on mediums let's them effectively boat an unlimited ammo ac20 w/ faster velocity for half tonnage (and drastically higher heat). You could even put 3 on the ecm raven w/ stealth armor and fire 3x without overheating, without skills.
Just use 1xHPPC. Better heat and way easier to find a mech with beneficial quirks.

I'd prefer the range and speed personally, but HPPC is awesome on mechs starved on energy points

I find this post interesting, as Heavy and Light PPCs both have identical ranges and projectile speeds. They did before the patch also.
Urbanmech, light 100 engine, dual heavy ppc. No other build can compete.

The one upside with a GHR is that the CT has always had such big hitboxes since it released that it's one of the heavy mechs in which an XL engine really works well. However, I would never recommend using a GHR without some JJs, as the ability to jump while twisting is a huge survival thing for that mech in helping transfer damage.

That, and the GHR makes a shockingly good poptart with certain builds (I even do it with 8 MPLs and have carried matches in the past). After all, Grasshoppers jump ;)
