Armor was recently rebalanced for the Stalker and a few other mechs. Your armor values are illegal as result of it. Reduce your armor by a point and add it back on and it should be fine.
And on a side node... you have way to much armor in your back. Under no circumstance should you ever need more than 15 back armor, matter of fact, competitive builds use as little as 3 or 4.
If you still do need more than 15 back armor, then something about your play style is wrong, as you are making some grievous piloting errors
I would probably knock the back armour down to around 10 in either case.
You look like you have the money to install a light engine as well so that would be worth investing in potentially.
but i always thought lrm are a waste on assault mech, that armor should stand in the frontline
Light engines take up a couple slots in your side torso but also reduce the engine weight by 25%. XL engines reduce it by 50. XL if you lose a side torso you die. Light engines your top speed is reduced a bit and you lose some heat management. If you lose both sides you die. Most mechs tend to run Light Engines though because the tradeoffs are generally worth it. And if you lose both sides in most mechs you are a stick anyway so you can't really do anything. The only notable exception I can think of is the Crab27 but I am sure there are a couple others.
Pretty much universally 40 tons or below run XL engines though.
Clan XL functions like a light engine but reduces the engine weight by 50%.
have to check these engines out then. but i'm, just like back then, already seriously turned off by that ghost heat crap that they put in the game...
i have to say though, unguided missiles at 550m doesn't sound like fun :-/
Honestly ghost heat isn't really a problem in my opinion. I only started playing in February so I don't know how it was before but it's very easy to play/build around it. You can use four PPCs but you just can't alpha with them without ghost heat. Just wait until some have finished firing then immediately fire the others in a different group or even just rapid tap a chain fire group.
As for the MRMs they're not everyone's cup of tea but generally I try to brawl.
The Quickdraw IV-4 is my favourite mech. You can get behind a hill pop up with the jets, fire a volley at enemies facing a different way then drop back to cover and reposition. Then, when the lines close you have a 60 damage alpha strike with a good cooldown that will tear through assaults with twin MRM30s. You can get 800+ damage and a couple solo kills relatively reliably. Plus it's got the armour and manoeuvrability to cope well in a brawl.
But again, it depends how you like to play. Some people love PPC sniping but I find it boring and underwhelming. I love MRMs but some people hate them.
If you're looking for idea I would suggest Baradul on YouTube. I started watching his Battletech videos and his MWO videos are what got me to finally try the game out after years of bad publicity.
As for the tabletop rules of three crits to the engine that's not how it works in game to my knowledge. You can't actually have your engine critted out. It's just one side for XL, both for clan or LFE and cored for standards results in destruction.
sadly i don't have a vid of the mlas+srm stalker xD

maybe i'll try some other stuff though... i still have an lrm catapult and a dragon standing around, those were quite fun too. 105km/h heavy mech with lasers :D
There's some mechs with HSL increases which lets you fire more for no heat additional penalty. Things like the Hunchback IIC or the Awesome. I am sure it took some fun builds away but it seems like a relatively fair balancing trade-off.
The idea of being shot twice from a KM away by 6 CERPPCs from one mech doesn't sound fun to me.
The LRM catapult should be decent for grinding. I used mine for that when I started. Haven't touched it for a while though.
There's a few dragon builds that can be fun though so I would say that's a good idea.
there was no clan tech back then, so no idea how CERPPC are. they mostly used 6 PPC because ER created more heat i think. and i loved seeing them on the other side because they usually shut down after their second alpha :D
i used 2 ERPPC and 2 PPC on mine + bigger engine and more heatsinks, was quite fun for sniping
And HSL basically increases the ghost heat cap. To certain mechs can fire more of a weapon without hitting ghost heat. UAC20s for the H2C, PPCs for the awesome etc. In both of those cases they get +1 to the cap .
i never had an awesome though i think... it's way too fridgelike, too easy to shoot parts off ^^
