Is pilot skill rating supposed to reset?

Question for the MWO vets here. I recently started playing for the first time about two weeks ago. After two weeks of playing and getting some skill, I'd reduced my pilot skill from 5 to about 2 pixels from breaking into tier 3.

I decided I'd try an assault mech (I have been a med/light pilot so far) and picked up a King Crab 0001B. I had a string of rough matches, about 5-6 losses with only 1 win in between. The next time I had logged in my pilot skill was reset to 5, with zero progress.

Is this a normal thing for the skill to either reset, or reduce two full tiers in a half dozen matches?

Not too worried, just curious.

Resets should not happen, no. Since you started fresh, your new account would have been in Tier 3, right in the middle of the bar, which represents PSR 2500. So did you go from there to T5 (PSR <1000) and back up to uppert T4 (PSR 1000-2000)? Can you make a screenshot of your Home screen?

That doesn't sound right at all. Even if you had 20 REALLY bad matches in a row, no way you should have dropped from almost Tier 3 back down to the start of Tier 5. Does anyone else have access to your account?

No, PSR doesn't reset unless there's a global reset (there was one a few months back), and it's not supposed to change THAT fast either.

It's still in the same place. Are you sure you haven't hidden that panel by accident?

and i thoght all the time it should be this way, since it happened with the psr reset

Nobody else has access to my account, and it was in pretty much one evening that it dropped two full tiers.

I thought it was very strange also!

Nobody else has ever reported anything like this. Not on the forums, nor on the reddit nor here. So you might be misinterpreting the things you see. Please show us a screenshot of your home screen. With it, you can also contact the customer support team. If there is an issue, they might be able to help you.

Mine dropped from almost halfway through t2 to roughly around the same progress level in t3 since I last played a few months ago. Not that I'm complaining though, I get access to some easier fights now.

Well, that's because they reset every one to PSR 2500 or the middle of T3 in June.
