I don't know about you, but one of the absolutely greatest parts of the game is when the alpha-delta-omega-wolf IllKhan and his SaKhan explode after you tell them they're terrible and their stock robot builds are befitting rides for such dezgra solahma has-been warriors, who have no business being in anything fast and important anyway, and their natural inclination to go for the most dishonorable and degrading tasks (shooting artillery into the sky, running off to sit next to unimportant battles far detached from any actual campaign or offense, and their bottom tier 4 or 5 badge is most befitting) almost as a reflex.
They call themselves LRMopotamus, their ammo bins are bottomless, and their tears are the bulletproof 24 karat gold tears...of a rapper.

Use chainfire. Enjoy.
Umm.. Sure.. Guessing you didn't get the memo regarding the changes to LRM5's...
Enlighten me.
[edit]: You're talking about the spread nerf, aren't you? In any case, this is a troll build. It's not meant to be effective. It's meant to keep the enemies cockpit shaking, and keep them from seeing anything in front of them (constant explosion flashes).
That and 2 LRM5's have more heat gen then a single LRM10 does... because they also got an increase to their heat gen... And for a skilled player, it's very easy to look past that, and fire at the red lock box ahead of you.. as it has no effect on the target reticle.. Also LRM5's are easier to pick off with AMS if one is within range, then a salvo from a LRM10 or larger..
Yes yes, heat gen is no problem in a A1, if you've ever piloted one. Also, you may penetrate more effectively with LRM-10's (which I do use on my serious build) but LRM-5's will chew through AMS in no time, which is also great for meming your enemy.
Nope I can't say I have... I view LRM's as a noobish weapon mostly used by players that either have very bad FPS or lack the aiming skills needed to use direct damage weapons...
Out of the 168 mechs I own, only one uses LRM's.. And that would be my STK-3F(C) with 2 LRM10's, 2 LPLs, and 4 MLs... Not even any of my 4 Archers use LRMs.. Although I do love ripping LRM Failboats apart in games... I have found that CPLT's quite often always seem to have ammo in their legs which always will lack a case and if I crit it, it'll blast up into the ST and knock out the XL if they have one.. And if they don't, then they end up either trying to hop away in vain or scratch my paint with their 2 MLs as shoot the other leg off... Because there's about a 40% chance they skimped on leg armor for the extra weight.. Only SRMboat CPLT's max their leg armor.. and CPLT is one of the mechs in MWO where the legs are its weakness as it has no added quirks to buff them, and they'll come right off with 2 maybe 3 alpha strikes...
The funny thing about all that? I prefer Ballistic builds (can't get enough of my JM6-DD), and only play with my missle boat when I get bored. I usually end games with 550-700+ damage and at least 1 kill as long as the team is working together decently and I don't get in a pickle resulting in smashin' dat mo-fk'n K button. I only pilot heavy mechs, too. I only just started playing and I'm already almost a T3.
What I'm getting at is that there is no meta, and you might want to consider what you say very closely. There's been quite a few Ravens, Locust, and Arctic Cheaters that thought they could take my A1 on, but failed the test or ran away. Yeah, the A1 might be a big bi*** with a barn-side, but the 'ol wh*** can move and groove.
The pilot makes the mech. The mech doesn't make the pilot. I've seen so many people claim "meta this" and "meta that" in discussions, but I've seen a lot of crazy sh** happen in the game from people using absolutely "crap" builds.
But no.. Laser Vomit mechs aren't the "master race".. Direct damage weapons are...
LRMs and missiles are the slowest traveling weapons, and have the longest ToT.. when i hear incoming missiles and i know they are 500m or more from me, i laugh because i know they are going to miss hitting me...
And yes the player does indeed make mech.. I can look at a mech and subconsciously know where I need shoot it without thinking, and i know my heat scales of my mechs like the back of hand and don't have look at my heat bar to know where it is at..
And again I agree with the meta statement.. I saw that my 2 favorite WHM's the 6D and 7S were on the meta "sh.!.t bad mech to use list.. but yet i pwned using them and they are 2 of my favorite IS heavies (They are my Gundams).. Love my WHM-7S with 3 LPLs and 3 MLs..
Since we're on the topic of odd mechs and good piloting:
You should give the Jester a whirl. It makes for a fun lazboat, and it's even more fun when you get hate messages. The mech has insane heat management out the door. Even on Terra Therma you can alpha strike 4 times before overheating. I run 2xERLL and 4xERML on mine. It's goofy when you end a game with 700+ damage and your enemy thinks you're hacking because of all the alpha strikes you can throw out.
[edit]: on top of that, it's a catapult, so it makes people rage even more because "herf derf, catapults r weak bro"
