But that's because it still has -10% heat generation from LPLs + another -5% energy heat. Plus 10% more LPL range + 10% energy range. There's also a solid 15% cooldown reduction on the AC10. Though that's because most of the weapons are low mounted and the Banshee isn't really considered strong.
I always thought the Blackjack Arrow would be a decent 3 LPL mech. But I didn't want to spend money it at the time. Really anything with high energy mounts and/or good heat reduction makes a good large pulse laser mech.
LL are better, and their refire is almost identical with ML, making for idea weapon combos.
quoting for truth
the only 'mech i've ever seen IS-LPL used on in any real serious capacity is the banshee, and i suspect as much of that is due to hardpoint starvation as it is quirking
sometimes they're grouped up with ER-MLas because of cooldown/range synergy, but that can get really toasty really quickly
BLR-1G with 3xLPL and 3xML.
I also tinker with 2xLPL wolfhounds and urbies because I am strange.
That can run one more MPL with no problem. Pretty easy to manage the heat on a skilled 3M which doesn't get that nice heat reduction quirk. It's a strong build.
The Charger 1A1 is also an interesting choice to run LPLs on. I've settled with 1 LPL and 6 MPL which is good but 2 or even 3 LPL wouldn't be bad.
