Black Knight: A good mech?
The black knight is my favorite mech from other Battletech games. Is it a good mech compeditively?

The only down sides are it's fairly large for a heavy (so a larger target), and it's hard points are generally a bit lower, making it harder to peek with. But it's fairly sturdy, so it can still get in and brawl a bit, as long as you watch your heat.

The only Black Knight that isn't a laser vomit mech is the hero variant ("Partisan"), which has missile and ballistic hard points, which make it a bit of a different beast entirely.

It's a very specialized mech. Kind of a glass cannon (with a slightly tougher shell than most others), but the synergy between its weight and hardpoints means you can fit quite a lot of firepower and heat sinks while still having decent speed. You have to take enemies by surprise with it, because if they see you out in the open, you will get primaried.

I've seen some people doing well with it. I personally can't stand its hip-height hardpoints.

Black Knight is a terrible mech in MWO. You feel like you are firing from your toe tips and the mech is only good when you fight horizontally. As long as you do not need to fight upwards or downwards, which is the vast majority of fighting in MWO, you will have a good time. Meaning on the sections of the maps you are on the same height as the enemy you will not have any issues.

But as soon as there is a ramp or a slope to fight up or down at, you are at a disadvantage. Doesn't matter if you have the high ground or the low ground, you are screwed, because both cases require you to expose almost more than half the mech to the enemy in order to be able to hit them with your guns.

You do not see this mech on the battlefield for a reason. You have to be an absolutely fan of this mech to choose it over all the other Heavy Mechs that do Laser Vomit a lot better than the Black Knight.

the black Knight is a brawler, corner poker, city mech.. It requires a much different playstyle.. But as a person that uses a thunderbolt (which is all torso mounted weapons with most of um lower, the BK is not that different outside of the TB's shoulder mount.

It is rated in my top 5 of IS mechs stat wise. the Partisan is the most mobile, and carries a UAC10+2 ERML's in the arms for shooting down/up and a decent ML/ERML chest alpha.

If you are a peak and poke hill humper, use something else. If you want to brawl in a city.. boy is it fun! Good armor, not bad speed and fairly mobile

Other than looks I think it gets outclassed by the Grasshopper and Thunderbolt for IS laser vom mechs, however other than its size issue its not inherently a bad machine so if you like it theres no reason to not play it. (Unless you want to join the Autofillatio Club and tell everyone constantly about your K/D ratio and how high your rank is on the leaderboard - like a certain star adder.)

You thought the cataphract was the best with it's knee mounted weapons?

Introducing the BLACK KNIGHT! It has shooty shoot in it's shooty shoes.

You can demolish: Ramps, hills, large rocks, medium rocks, SMALL ROCKS. Buy torso pitch so you can actually look down far enough to see what is blocking your hot lazor death!

BLACK KNIGHT! Get ready for LASER KICKS!
