This build is one heck of a brawler.
SCORCH[mwo.smurfy-net.de]
This one is more of a second line fire support.
SCORCH[mwo.smurfy-net.de]
I do notice that appearing on the battlefield with a Scorch, on also puts a big fat target circle on ones mech. Getting hammered harder than an atlas ;-)
Atlas is inner sphere tech, marauder IIC is clan tech - clan tech is typically much lighter and compact than the IS counterparts.
Classic Scorch build is 2xLB20+4x(A)SRM4/6 while using pretty big Clan XL engine. The closest thing to that Atlas canhave is one LB20 + 4xASRM6, which will force it to use STD engine. Clan SRMs have half the weight of their IS counterpart, Clan LB20 takes 2 slots less and 2 tons lighter. Clan Ferro, Endo, Heatsinks all require less slots. So the clan battlemech without fixed equipment can move faster, and carry more big guns. That's why Clan assault battlemechs have very poor agility stats and hardly any quirks. It is for the balance's sake.
I tend to find the one out the front gets focused more, regardless of load out. It's just the case that most people take the shots they can, rather than prioritizing specific mechs - until they see an open component that is, which people will go for.
Often the reason you may feel focused more often in a scorch though is that the Atlas is massively tougher than the Scorch. 214 CT health compared to 162 on the Scorch, further exacerbated by skill points. Because of that, when you get focused, you feel it's a lot worse while in a scorch, watching your armor get stripped away that much faster and then your components get opened up far more easily, and then the sharks start to circle.
I'm running this build (and this thing runs HOT): https://mwo.smurfy-net.de/mechlab#i=499&l=8ec16683f8e817cb6f3734615e31380d70143c05
The virtue of SRMs is instant firing of their entire volley. Pop tarts love them. Speedy mechs love them. Mechs with very fast torso twist love them. You are none of the above. While they still represent 48 points of alpha on a moderate cooldown, they do not play to your strengths.
Baradul put up an ATM/UAC10 build today, maybe check it out.
The one i had suggested earlier in the thread is faster... and when i fully armor it in smurfy you seem to have 2,3tons of empty space.
I really think you are to slow for using SRMs. 64kph is not fast enough, in my opinion.
With your loadout i would change over to ATMs like this:
SCORCH[mwo.smurfy-net.de]
Or this:
SCORCH[mwo.smurfy-net.de]
The ATM6s use a bit more of the psychological effect of chain firing missiles at people. The Dual ATM12 of course hurt a lot more and is more of a dump your load and get out weapon.
Its hard to recommend one over the other as they have identical heat and DPS, although ATM6s have ghost heat when fired all 4 at once... but you can fire 2 of them and follow up with 2 while you land your second shot of the uAC10s.
And since you already have the Artemis system... you could also go this route:
SCORCH[mwo.smurfy-net.de]
But by the sounds of it, with your speed, and given that it doesn't have real quirks, you probably want more of a midrange loadout, if you have problems making the SRM work for you.

Now, it should be noted that Baradul is a very good player, and he's running both a hot build (and getting shut down or overheating will get you killed) and ATMs (which are a tricky weapon to get the hang of, keeping to the ideal close ranges while not being pushed and under-run, which will get you killed).
However, it's useful to see what it is possible to do with Scorch, and why it has a reputation as a big damage dealer.
inb4 an elitist calls Baradul a terribly average player.
Gonna try it tonight!
