My only ECM biggie is Stalker 3FB and i'm not a fan of stalkers, including this one.
My top choices are:
Lights:
Wolfhound Grinner - a hero mech with good speed and firepower. Agility and durability is very good. Due to massive durability quirks it is much easier to play than most lights. The main reason for Raven 3L to be outside of the top. Grinner is better.
Locust Pirate's Bane and Commando 2D - these two pests can annoy people to death. Bane is a MG/laser mech and 2D is an SRM-carrier. Firepower and durability are lacking, but speed and agility is second to none. These two mechs are ultimate stealth squirrels. As all proper lights these are pretty hard to play.
Arctic Cheetah - single most versatile light mech in the game. Good speed, hitboxes, omni, has jets. It is in a strange spot being above average at everything light mechs do. With good hardpoint/weapon setup can be very easy to pilot.
Mediums:
Cicada 3M - another reason for Raven 3L not being here. Cicada 3M is very fast and very agile sneaky medium mech. Offering higher firepower and durability than light mechs it can be very potent weapon the hands of a patient hunter.
Not in the top:
Shadow Cat - is a clan take on Cicada. Like, let's take all hardpoint options of all Cicada variants and combine it into one mech. Oh, now it is too fat to move fast, isn't it? Let's add the MASC! Mech has MASC, JJs, can have ECM and it is omni. This mech can be very versatile but is hard to pilot. MASC usage is mandatory due to low base agility for a mech this squishy.
Raven 3L - it is very sneaky, has decent speed and good hardpoints. Can be a long range sniper with lasers or short range skirmisher with SRMs/MRMs. Being a 35t light mech it is big and its hitboxes are bad. It lacks the durability quirks of other Ravens and will most likely lose in duels with enemy lights.
Hellspawn 7D - it has some durability quirks and hitboxes are weird, so the survivability is ok for a tonnage. It has decent speed and JJs. Still, I can't say it can compete with 5t lighter Assassin.
Mechs I don't own, but are worth mentioning:
Assassin 27 - speed, agility, jump jets and hitboxes of an Assassin + ECM. With lasers and missiles it just can't be bad.
Javelin 11B - should be ok, despite the lack of jets. 4 torso missile hardpoints combined with hitboxes and agility of Javelin... It must be at least decent.
Fafnir - must be pretty nice at long range dakka stuff. Being unable to target with missiles, to identify the weapon setup and which part is about to fall off should compensate for the lack of durability compared to Anni. It also has good hardpoint location.
Blood Asp - faster and less durable clan Fafnir basically. Must be good.
i do lvoe my cicada 5M though. mount it with stealth armor and a decent ballistic with lots of ammo and you can be the ninja gunner on the field. moves quick, hits hard where it counts.
Hunt down lights and harass bigger guys with the LRM.
Raven 3l is a seriously slenderer, yet otherwise imo inferior option.
