question about redeeming gift codes

so i bought a uv direwolf and everytime try to redeem it it keeps telling me i cant redeem it because it would downgrade my current package level.

why is it doing that?

uv direwolf was manually injected (along with mechbay) into my account and due to manual injection it doesnt count towards annual rewards.

but supposedly, gifting or buying from the store has limits, so you cant gift yourself more than once i guess.

but buying in-game with mc isnt limited.

so from what i gather they would rather you pay (in my case) pay about $45 for 9.500k mc to buy the uv direwolf (hero) from in-game store, compared to buying if from the site store at $25.

thats kind of lame, i dont think i want to pay $45 for a single mech when i can buy it for $20 less ($25) on the site store.

hopefully they allow me to continue (for further purchases) to buy gifted ones and i guess have them manually injected.

Other way around generally - they prefer you to buy from the web store as they get all the money, whereas MC purchases through steam, they pay steam 30%.

I wonder if it’s an issue because it was bought as a gift rather than as a package? I dunno. You didn’t already own a Direwolf package or something did you?

It’s pretty odd, but if you bought a package, you should definitely be eligible for annual rewards - did customer service tell you directly that it wouldn’t?

Ultraviolet is the hero Direwolf and buying or owning it has no relation to having bought any of the other DW packs in the past.

I've bought quite a lot of mechs as gifts to myself, it isn't limited. This case seems like you might have already owned the Ultraviolet pack and didn't remember? Maybe a copy bought from a sale or something and the game does not want you owning two packs of the same mech but with different prices?

The UV isn't even a part of any Clan collections, it is sold separately. There could not be any sort of downgrading except in relation to other UV packs.

Buying a hero does not count towards rewards... Only buying MC, or the steam solaris pack, solaris might also count as an MC purchase though MWO site, but i really don't know, but seeing how good of a value it is, my guess it is also MC through the main MWO site too.


at any rate,, buying a hero gets you nothing, outside of the hero, which is good in itself :)

Not entirely correct, JC. He's most likely talking about the Clan Heroes[mwomercs.com]-pack from the web store. There you can buy single hero packs, including the direwolf. And these count towards the annual rewards program.

However, OP, you can only own one such package and you probably already own one from an earlier purchase or gift.

MC bought count towards the respective reward, no matter where they were obtained. The S7-Heroes pack also counts towards the annual MC rewards tier, not any mechpack tier.

actually i didnt even notice that one in the link, i was in the "gift" tab and picked that one.

It's practically the same. One's a gift code and one is injected to the buying account immediately. But if you look at the location i posted, it should show that you already own the UV package.

yes i own it but thats not what i bought, i bought the gift one and as mentioned due to their system buying from the store is limited.

needless to say i got my injection for my uv direwolf.
