Devs fix your system requirements Hard drive space is way wrong!
Fricken says 16 GB, I go to install and I have 22 GB of space but says not enough space. Turns out on a thread on their website it is total of 44 GB.

Try a disk defrag, it might help. Furthermore, if you have LOADS of small files on your drive, those allocate more space than is officially listed in windows. Clean those, or zip them :-)

I think you have to have enough to download and then install the game. 16gb download + 22gb install is 38GB, which is pretty close to the 44GB requirement on the website. Try running disk cleanup in windows, you could have a ton of windows temp files.

Not to be rude but buy a new HDD or uninstall stuff.

I did that but they should be realistic and say what the actual amount of space should be.

I find nearly every steam stat size is wrong, mostly because patches happen and steam store pages never get updated.. I never listen to those steam recommendations.

And with HDD becoming so cheap these days i just buy a new one every now and then.. Hell i have 3 HDD deactivated in this PC at this time.

Unpacking usually takes a lot of room then it compresses it as it installs

yeah, the installation takes more space than the final folder. Also, don't ever go so low on disc space. Your system needs to write pagefiles. leave at least 10% free.

Sometimes the devs also use a patching system where the game creates a copy of itself on the same drive during patching, then applies the patch to that and finally replaces the original game version.

Warhammer Total War is an example of this, and thus it requires double the space of the entire game even when installing a 1mb patch...

So it could be that MWO is only about 20 gigs in size but for updating, it therefore needs 40 gigs of free space plus the space for the patch, so 44 gigs in total.

This type of a thing did not really exist during the HDD era but then the SSD's made it possible and I guess it is an easy patching system for the devs since more and more games are starting to use it.

So better start saving up money for multiple 500GB SSD's or for a 1T SSD guys, since there will soon be games requiring 200GB of space as they are 100GB in size.
