Faster, better armed and armored Units have a better BV.
Works like the points in Warhammer or Warhammer 40K.
In LL combined arms is used too much imo, it feels more like a Battlefield game where you have lots of cool units on open maps and it is fast paced / arcadey. Mechs are supposed to be the kings of the battlefield, pilots train from the age of 10 to become Mechwarriors and the only reliable way to take down a mech is a bigger mech.
LL is a fun open combined arms game, but people get fooled into thinking it is more 'Battletechy' then MWO when it truely isnt.
MWO is more realistic in that you have 12v12 Mech companies of three lances / stars fighting from drop ships. You also have the mechlab like a proper Mechwarrior game.
Also, it's a pain in the ass to find anyone playing LL, and a game you can actually play beats one you cannot.
Patch 0.9.0 (originally 0.8.7) was released this past weekend, and includes a ton of stuff (new launcher/updater, four new assets, three new weapon systems, a new map and various map adjustments, throttle decay toggle, manual reload and ammo dump, plus tons of bug fixes and balance adjustments).

not to mention brawling is pretty damn fun :-)
Outwars, yes, that's dead. A few dozen people playing, well, that's like calling Medieval 2 Hotseats on TWC dead. Nah, still kicking.
you may not like its existence, but MWLL was here before MWO, and the way its going... will probably be here long after MWO is a pale memory
