And while TAG does not stack on it'self (2 tag beams on a target) it does stack with NARC. A mech NARCed and hit with TAG makes a very nice missile target.
TAG is the difference between raining and pwning.
So OP.
Wrong... Narc will disable a mech's ECM. ECM won't work for a mech while it is Narc'ed... He will have to enter the range of another player's ECM to remove the Narc, or wait until it times out before his ECM will work again...
Perhaps you should watch this video

Because you seem to not fully understand Sensors/ECM, and everything connected with them..

Take a look on the Trial Stalker: 4 LRM 10, a TAG and some Med-Lasers.
If the Stalker pilot has a line of sight to an enemy mech he can paint it with the TAG, speeding up the Targeting for his LRMs and all other LRM Mechs.
TAG is also a nice addition to a sneaky scout... get behind enemy lines, TAG them, request via VOIP "need LRMs on Target X" and watch the rain (works best if you play in a group with Teamspeak).
TAG is also a nice benefit for Mechs with STREAK SRMs.
More obscure uses of TAG:
As targetting help for a Gauss Rifle. Put it in the same firing group and press fire.
TAG icon appears over Target ? Release the fire button.
No TAG icon over Target ? Adjust your aim until the Icon appears.
But mounting a ER-Large Laser next to the Gaus and watching the hit indicator works too...
