Tips for training stubborn players
I need some tips on how to get stubborn players to train and improve. I have spent millions getting the best possible staff for my team and made sure they are chosen for their best training category. I also made sure man management is fairly high and they are almost all 4 and half star coaches. I have downloaded training schedules and while some player need no motivation to improve some of my world class youngsters will not improve. I tried talking nicely to them but some are on the brink of possibly hating me now. Others I sold with regret.

I have tried to match determination and read all kinds of advice for this. I now need help.

I also need help to create a schedule to make my players run faster and pass better. Technique and concentration are vital.

I have asked on the official forums but received no help.

I mostly take out the time (if i have the money and space for it) to get some kind of a "private" trainer one with the highest skills e.g. if a have an stubborn striker i hire a coach with max attacking training skills and make up a special trainings schedule for the player also i often choose young players above a starting 11 player to ensure they develop quick and steady if they don't prduce they are not the top talent you look for real talents do well while being thrown in the deep last but not least let them know YOU are the boss and not them don't be affraid to loan out a young player to give away the problem for a year or tell him to F off if he is being real impatient or unreasonable. e.g. a talented player of mine Lars Gulpen knew he didn't had a chance this season he accepted the fact that i was sending him out on a loan period and every loan offer that comes along i accept he refused so i give him a sack of money and ripped his contract find a new club for you i have 6 more people that are happy to get that chance and don't whine about it so yeah most important things for you there hope it helps :D

Thanks. I done that quite often. It seems to happen a lot in later years from 2026 onwards especially so called wonderkids that end up rubbish because they won't train. I had what the game said 2 star players that train really well. I see from yesterday I am down to 2 stubborn players. Both are wingers. I think I'll loan tham out and hope I don't have the same problem I had with my Irish superstar. I loaned him to Man Utd and he keeps getting injured.

Well sounds harsh but getting injured all the time is better then rejecting the loan possibility in the first plays gotta give him props to go out on loan :P

Agree with cesaredevilliers, it could just be the case that your wonderkids aren't actual "wonderkids"; this happened alot with my regens. Do you use Genie Scout? I was excited for my 3.5 star potential fullback, had good stats for a 17 year old. Then open up Genie Scout to find he had PA of 154 and 2 star progress rate. EFF! So much for my optimism...

Now up to 4 players who won't train. My stubborn winger finally has started training but my right wingers and 2 playmakers won't. The other player is a defender. I need fast players on the wing and finding it hard to implement this to the players. Haven't used Genie Scout. Have another 3 game months to get to the transfer market again. I will sell them. I see my loan player is now slower because he is injured again. He isn't injury prone so no idea why the game keeps injuring him.

Thats unfortunate, I seriously recommend downloading Genie Scout. It might look like "cheating" but all I do is do research on individual players hidden stats, training etc, nothing more. Alternatively, have you tried "I'm considering placing you on the transfer list if you don't show an improvement in training." Maybe your players don't like the workload you're giving them? Reduce workload to medium
Cassie Jan 24, 2015 @ 6:37am
I checked and they are on medium. Defenders are on high. Goalkeepers are on very high but seem to hate anything less than that. Everyone else is on specialized training schedules set to medium. I downloaded a whole lot of schedules and what works for one player doesn't for the next. I tried making my own but only one ever worked and still works. Ideas? I am open to any suggestions. I got a passing and creative centre back. No idea how that happened.

Edit: Now down to 3. One is responding to tutoring now. the other finally just improved a few moments ago. Now a goalkeeper won't improve. Still the one playmaker won't improve. The other defender I now set to tutoring. Maybe he will now improve?

By "improve" I'm guessing you mean you want stats to go up to 18, 19 or 20. By the sound of things your youngsters have a low PA, which means there's a ceiling on how high the stats can go up to. How quickly they get to that ceiling depends on progress rate, low progress rate means your kids could be late bloomers.

Tutoring would make mental stats go up if its a good tutor. As far as technical, physical stats go, I reckon you've done everything you can on training and schedules. My suggestions: give minimum 20 starts to kids between 16-18 (not just in easy cup games, also big CL, league games) for 3 seasons straight. Don't loan them out, play them. Set Match Prep to very low workload, no individual focus training, no new positional training, no PPM training, so the kids get the max out of your schedules

I can try that. These particular youngsters are supposed to be World Class according to my scouts and assistant manager. I would settle for any stats to go up. The goalkeeper is odd. For months he has been improving and now his tutoring has ended he stops improving. I goen for a default trainign schedule for the 3 players so will check and see what happens. For many game years I had zero problems then around 2025 the problems started. It's not the staff. I chose high man management coaches and also 4 and half star coaches.

I agree that Genie scout is not cheating i just wondering about one thing my board does noet want to cooperate in getting new and better sattelite clubs if i would to use the FMRTE to once every 5 seasons change the club we have a cooperation with is that cheating?? if so i won't do it and Cesar srry for going off topic i wil be back on topic next post

It's your game ahah, nobody's about to kill someone for cheating. Only time I used FMRTE was to increase hidden attendance in 2029 to get the board to build new stadium.

@cesaredevilliers Good luck with that, update us on the kids' progress

I will keep this updated. I got 2 wingers to improve but still the playmaker won't. Now going to sell him. I have played him in 8 matches and he still won't improve. The goalkeeper is now improving and the other playmaker is now. Seems to not improve one month then next month lots of attributes increase.
Cassie Jan 28, 2015 @ 12:17pm
Okay. My playmaker decided maybe he should improve. My goalkeeper is now improving as well. However the defender still won't. I now changed training staff to see if adding an extra staff member to ball control helps and to have general staff doing tactics and ball control. I do need new staff but waiting for my staff to lose rating first.

I use my 4 schedule training. 1,only goalkeepers 2.only Defenders 3,Midfielielders 4.Attackers
why? Because in the general training for example is set "medium" for goalkeepers and "attack" ,and that don't make any sense?! Why should goalkeepers trainin attack or dribbling? Do you know what I'm trying to say ? So that's why my 4 training schedules are specific setup to bring out the best of a defender, attackers, goalkeepers, and defenders. That's also is affecting the youth academy ,because I become very good young players, wonderkids, who are with 17 and have for exampl. one atrribute over 10 ! So my youth academy always produces great promising talents. Try my method out !
