Loading Issues

i have sucessfully installed FM 2011 into my steam library yet it says the application is open but never loads, any help will be much appreciated

Try doing the following:
Download DirectX End-User Runtime
Update DirectX
Update NET Framework
They're all in the microsoft website, could be that some old games require DirectX 9

after all the downloads that @recram said,uninstall the game.After that open steam and sign into your accaunt and just install the game in steam. Did this solved the problem?

Right, I'm hoping this works for you too. I found this out by complete fluke after 2011 would not load up. So all i did in the end was install the demo of the latest football manager (2016), as it was installing, it installed direct x. So press play on the demo (once completely installed) as you normally would to start a game, then quit out and press play on 2011 and it should work.

This method worked for me:
1) Right Click on Game, select Properties
2) Click on Local Files, choose Browse Local Files
3) Click on DirectX
4) Select DxSetup.exe, Install
5) Game then worked (Windows 10)
