New laptop-Can't open the game
Hi everyone,

I've just bought a new laptop and now the game won't start. If I click on the game then it says 'running' for a second or two then it dissapears and nothing happens. I'm desperate to keep playing this game becasue I've only had one save on the game since 2010 and I really can't face losing those years of "work"!

The new laptop is an ASUS S410UA-BV050T 14-inch Thin and Light Laptop with Wide-Angle, Slim Bezel Display (Grey) - (Intel i3-7100U Processor, 4 GB RAM, 128 GB SSD etc etc.

Any help would be much appreciated!

I have the same problem. But I had never problems before when I had Windows 7. Now I have Win10 and the same problems happen to me? I think it's about some AV or because of win10...

Did the game install directx 9c and have you got java installed? Sometimes the game doesn't install directx 9c and without it the game won't launch. Also make sure you have latest version of windows 10 installed if you have windows 10.

The easiest way to get directx 9c is to install a demo of any later football manager up to football manager 17 because 19 uses directx 10 or 11. Not sure since I don't own that game. Otherwise download from Microsofts website to get it. Directx 9c is not installed on windows 10. You have to install it.

Installed direct9c but the same problem is still there... It appears as running in my new laptop and then disappears. It works in my desktop but I'm unable to run the game on my new laptop.. Any advice on this?

Try verify the files and set to windows vista with fullscreen optimization disabled.

Thanks Chloe. I have verified the files and they are all good. For some weird reason I managed to start the game now, but all my previous saves in my desktop are missing. Is there any way to retrieve them? Btw, I'm running on Win10

You will have to copy your desktop saves and move it to your laptop. The game hasn't got cloud saving. The best is to copy your whole fm 2011 folder in my documents and move to laptop.

Strangely I tried to do that but I was unable to find any saved games. I usually launch the game using the internet launch and not the desktop launch. If I do the latter, all my saved games are outdated. The former has my latest saves though.

That's strange. I never had issues playing the same save on my laptop and desktop.
