Unresponsive afterimage button?

I want to love this game, but the afterimage button (to take pictures) is a complete crapshoot as to when it works or doesn't. I'm just a few stages in, and trying to do timed runs is a serious pain. I hit the camera button five or six times, no flash, then suddenly it's perfect five-ten times in a row (including taking pictures while the afterimage is still on the screen).

I've tried on Windows 8 and 10, 64-bit systems. Is there some in-game signal that the camera is ready that I'm just not seeing? Or is this just the reality of the game?

Neither. This doesn't happen for me. Camera button works every time I press it. In fact, I had to reliably, rhythmically spam the flash button in 2 of the levels to get a better time against other people.

Thank you for the reply - to me, the way it's working is painfully broken. I'm just wondering if I'm the only guy in the world with this problem (on two computers) or what. Do you use controller or keyboard?

Both. Primarily keyboard. But what do you use?

Keyboard. Funny story - the key is working today on my home computer. But today (just today) I tested it on my work computer and had terrible intermittant luck (which obviously doesn't work in a precision platformer). Perhaps something to do with resetting the computer after the install? I'll see if it keeps working... Right now it's playable, at least.

I'm having similar trouble - hitting the camera button rarely works, ever.

Me too, having the same problem, the game is unplayable, as the flash only randomly works. Don't understand how only a few of us seem to have this issue.
