late edit: I wasn't so fortunate. Oh well, they'll be there for some future me, maybe.
Considered simply copying them so I had bases covered. But if they didn't load when I got there, I'd still have been none the wiser :-)
The last two days of testing was exactly that, copying saves, bones, moving them, renaming them making sure that worked (On Linux as well as Windows). This particular change made me, personally, rather nervous, but it's definitely for the long term good.
Those are usually created "in-game" and are temporary files. It's odd that you're seeing these files if you're not busy with an actual game.
@SlashemVC: This may be the result of a crash and you've had Vulture on steam a long long time due to participating in the beta from the very start. These files could possibly be recovered if they're not a game you recognise or they seem old. If you don't really care simply delete them.
This sounds like you've opened the game manual instead of the game itself. I'd recommend restarting steam to ensure that the menu that pops up, after clicking "Play" is showing correctly for you. Steam should ask you if you want to view the manual, or play the game when you click the "Play" button. If it's not doing so then Steam itself has failed to sync the launch options correctly.
