SSI, Commandor 64 & 1985 - Same game?
Just ran into this and noticed the name is same and gameplay reminds me strongly of the old Colonial Conquest I used to play on my C64 back in the 80:s though its obviously a huge boost in graphic :D. Anyone know if this is the same game as the SSI?, the developer and publisher got scoped up by Ubi more then a decade ago if I remember my good ol dev studios right.

argh......too many games this summer and want this too then if its the same ol. Where to get the time to play it too and yeah...multiplayer is a must as remember playing it on one ol computer 64(Meant commodore 64 LOL) back in the day with friends and a single game could take foreeeeever. Especially if you where the russian and had to transfer 2 million troops in each attack as they had the weakest troops in the game back then....no offense to todays russian meant btw, with german troopers the strongest :D and brits with tons of ships. ah....the good ol time.

It's not really anywhere near as good as the 85 version mate. The AI is completely broken and tbh it's near impossible not to win this game playing as any of the majors. I was really excited when it came out on steam but sadly it's not even 10% of the 85 game due to poor AI.

Thats why I hope for a multiplayer version where you can challenge real people. Loved playing the C64 version with friends though it could take forever to finish a game. So probablt gonna wait until I hear if it gets a multiplayer part or not b4 getting it.

game is not getting multiplayer, i gave up on this a loooong time ago. They have no kickstarter funds available to add mp. shame too. Could have been a hit if they put mp in day 1

Yeah I was a kickstarter supporter, and I loved the C64 version (THOUSANDS of hours), but this one is broken.

Guys, can you be more specific please? Why is the game broken, what is bad or different to the old version? I played it too for many hours on the Atari ST. :-)

Bugs. Game killing bugs. It has been a long time, and I tried *really* hard to love this game, the way I did the old versions... I have about a hundred hours listed (lots more on beta I think), and I have almost every achievement. (By chance, not design).

But it's broken. For example. I start a new game as the UK on standard, and in the first turn of the game, moves from *previous* games will occur. I only have a hundred-some-thousand troops, yet a million of my men land in Africa, and half a million land in Scotland (I had to retake it a game or two ago...) and I now have thousands of navies instead of just a hundred or so. It should take me years to get that going... Now I have it on turn one.

There were many other things too - areas that were connected by land but you couldn't send your troops across. (Yet sometimes you could... /shakes head).

...

Beta: I made several suggestions in a thread for events, saying I'm saving my best stuff for later, and am just throwing out these ideas to get conversation flowing... After other people have had a chance to jump in, I'l share my best ideas... Well, weeks and months go by, and there is not a single comment from the testers, the devs, or anything. Yet it looks like *every single one* of the suggestions I made was incorporated in to the game. If the devs were interested, and they must have been, as they used the ideas!; well why not bother with a 2 or 3 word post? "Please share more!" Or "Interesting Stuff", or ?? My coolest ideas were not even shared, as I thought there was no interest. There was interest (obviously) but no one could be bothered to even reply.

...

The last bit is just to share the opinion that I don't think the devs have any concern with working out the bugs and such. There was very little (if any) replies to my descriptions of the bugs, etc when I reported them.

I'm not even going to go in to the AI and such, that is a difficult thing to program, and it isn't even the point. I am not focusing on whether or not it is a *good* game; you can't even have that conversation when it is a *broken* game.

A better way to put it is this - I still play Colonial Conquest. I played a few days ago. On Vice, a C64 emulator. I also fire up the Atari emulator (game play is faster, but I think the AI is weaker), and also play CoCoNet (which I *strongly* urge you to download for free!).

I have played all of these multiple times since the last time I fired up THIS version. And, unless and until they fix this game (which I was a kickstarter backer for), I will never play it again.

...

I read all this over, and I want to add one thing. I'm not out for the devs, there are no hard feelings, etc. As a matter of fact, I *do* hope that someday they revisit it, and fix the bugs that have been listed as game-breaking. If they do, I *will* play again!

I just don't see that as being likely, based on past behavior, that is all.

Hope this helps!

(And if you have any questions about CC in general, or any of the versions, I would be happy to help!)
