Although a lot of people r waiting for online multiplayer mode. Guys, please give it to us!
But it's broken. For example. I start a new game as the UK on standard, and in the first turn of the game, moves from *previous* games will occur. I only have a hundred-some-thousand troops, yet a million of my men land in Africa, and half a million land in Scotland (I had to retake it a game or two ago...) and I now have thousands of navies instead of just a hundred or so. It should take me years to get that going... Now I have it on turn one.
There were many other things too - areas that were connected by land but you couldn't send your troops across. (Yet sometimes you could... /shakes head).
...
Beta: I made several suggestions in a thread for events, saying I'm saving my best stuff for later, and am just throwing out these ideas to get conversation flowing... After other people have had a chance to jump in, I'l share my best ideas... Well, weeks and months go by, and there is not a single comment from the testers, the devs, or anything. Yet it looks like *every single one* of the suggestions I made was incorporated in to the game. If the devs were interested, and they must have been, as they used the ideas!; well why not bother with a 2 or 3 word post? "Please share more!" Or "Interesting Stuff", or ?? My coolest ideas were not even shared, as I thought there was no interest. There was interest (obviously) but no one could be bothered to even reply.
...
The last bit is just to share the opinion that I don't think the devs have any concern with working out the bugs and such. There was very little (if any) replies to my descriptions of the bugs, etc when I reported them.
I'm not even going to go in to the AI and such, that is a difficult thing to program, and it isn't even the point. I am not focusing on whether or not it is a *good* game; you can't even have that conversation when it is a *broken* game.
A better way to put it is this - I still play Colonial Conquest. I played a few days ago. On Vice, a C64 emulator. I also fire up the Atari emulator (game play is faster, but I think the AI is weaker), and also play CoCoNet (which I *strongly* urge you to download for free!).
I have played all of these multiple times since the last time I fired up THIS version. And, unless and until they fix this game (which I was a kickstarter backer for), I will never play it again.
...
I read all this over, and I want to add one thing. I'm not out for the devs, there are no hard feelings, etc. As a matter of fact, I *do* hope that someday they revisit it, and fix the bugs that have been listed as game-breaking. If they do, I *will* play again!
I just don't see that as being likely, based on past behavior, that is all.
Hope this helps!
(And if you have any questions about CC in general, or any of the versions, I would be happy to help!)
