If you install the game it's always the fake comapnies, etc. This is just a mod.
It's slow going as I cross reference to IMDB based on how I think the change was intended, sometimes drawing a blank and thinking laterally. If I still draw a blank I see what is close and if it's appropriate.
More interesting is the film and TV references that have been changed from a known property but are still real titles such as The Godfather to The Godmother (a 2011 film).
Chinabox -> OBox
SuperX -> SuperGrafx

NPC Companies:
Zir-Tech -> Sir-Tech (you named it Ubisoft)
Droica Games -> Troika Games ( you named it Paradox Interactive)
Romedie -> Remedy (you named it ENIX)
Quantic Dreams -> Quantic Dream (without S)
Northwood Studios -> Westwood Studios
Publisher:
You forgot to rename Minisoft to Microsoft
I also noticed, that the NPC company names (developer names) are not updated in my existing savegames. Everything else works fine. Have to start a new game to get them to show up.
I've updated them all. Can't believe I spelt commodore wrong, my first machine was the Vic-20 so I've seen that name 1000's of times.
Have you started a new game?
Also when you downloaded did you keep the same format or did it convert? If NPCCompanies is bigger than 291 bytes then it's not correct. Google occasionally decides it's going to convert a download, so I'm going to upload to my own server shortly.
I seriously wish people would stop making this ridiculous (and untrue) argument.
It's illegal for the developer to do it.
It's NOT illegal for the player to make it. And even distribute it to other players.
THAT is why you can look at major games (look at any major game that includes mods) and see a vareity of different copyrighted user created mods that have been used for years including Star Wars mods with music, and a host of any other copyrighted material.
Stop spreading this untruth, please.
