Genres ...
I like the general idea of the game and despite some flaws it's pretty nice. It kept me addicted for quite a while now, but there's a thing that starts to mother me:

The genres make no sense...

What genre would The Sims be?

Is Need For Speed really the same genre as Elite Dangerous?
Especially if you consider that there is such a big difference between Skill and Puzzle games and between Strategy and Real Time Strategy games...

What genre is Spore?

Also would I really get a lower rating if I didn't have a second genre?

Building and RPG doesn't fit together?
What's The Guild and The Sims about then?
Isn't Life Simulation an own genre?

What genre would Assassin's Creed be?
Adventure? It says slow paced and mild violence .. I'm not so sure if stabbing people in the neck is considered mild violence ...

What genre is Day-Z? Ain't Survival a genre instead of a topic?

What TOPIC would World of Warcraft be?
Fantasy - Elves?
Fantasy - Orcs?
Orcs - Trolls?
Elves - Orcs?
Trolls - Elves?
Fantasy - Trolls?
Game Development Trolls?

What genre is Just Dance?

What genre is Guitar Hero?

What genre is GTA?

Open World is also moe a genre than a topic in my eyes ...

Assasins Creed - Third Person Shooter/Adventure

Day-Z - FPS/Roleplaying

WoW - Topics FAntasy/Magic

Just Dance - Puzzle

Guitar Hero - Puzzle

GTA - Third Person Shooter

I would argue just dance and guitar hero are skill games.

The whole "genre A doesn't fit together with genre B" thing is rather unsustainable.

There are all sorts of combinations out there that work well.

I believe the whole system should work a little differently.
Maybe something like this:

Each genre adds up to the workload.
Adding a genre means adding almost a whole game, but it improves the rating of the game.

However you shouldn't add genre after genre because every device has storage limits and only so much processing power (e.g. flops), also the production cost increases vastly.

A genre would be the combination of the way of representing the game, such as:
2D side-scroller
3D level based character view game
3D open world based character view game
2.5D top-down vision game
3D top-down vision game
2D Sprites with 3D environment
Text Based
Premade Videos (for interactive movies)

And the types of representation:
Real-Time Combat System
Building (Houses, Cities, etc.)
Role Play (Dialogues / Quests)
Simulation (Economy & Strategy ... basically heavy load background AI work)
Simulator (Vehicles)
Model Creation (Character Creator, Advanced Vehicle Customization, etc.)
Mini-Game (Skill & Puzzle & QTE)

And then the Topics such as:
Police
Evolution
Military
Science-Fiction
Every Day Life
...

A game would consist of multiple of those pieces and increase the work-load and therefore cost of the project.
Moreover stuffing a project would cause higher FLOPS and Storage Space requirements, that might exceed the hardware limitations.

In any case saying those 3 elements have incompatibilities is a rather bold move.
At worst we just don't know how to realize the combination properly.
- and that would be a thing to research for the research department!
Instead of researching a topic, they would research their combination.

Also what feels like is missing are franchises.
A franchise could have several different games and video game developers come up with their own franchises, they don't just buy movie licenses.

A successor is usually based on the previous game, not just spiritually, but also the game code itself.
It's up to the developer to decide how much they want to change or add to the new title.
Sometimes they completely throw the old game out of the window and re-invent the franchise (Fallout 2 -> Fallout 3), sometimes they mainly just sell the exact same game, jus with new models and textures (Call of Duty), and sometimes they sell you the exact same game over and over again with very little changes (FIFA). That's a thing the player could decide ~

MMOs also went with a free subscription for 30days, so the customers were able to play the game after purchase and the sales numbers aren't too different from normal games.
I couldn't believe my eyes when I released my first MMO with a 93% rating and only sold 20k units.
There's just the additional subscription rate thing.

I think the game does need a survival genre

That'd be more of a subject than a genre. Survival has been done in several different styles - turn based, first person, third person, strategy, puzzle...

RPG is best for Adults and Seniors? RPG doesn't fit with Strategy?
And what exactly do you think is Pokemon?
Pokemon is an RPG with turn based strategy combat system fitted for children and probably the most successful RPG series ever made ...

Would you argue that it's a pure rpg or a little more on the arcade-style of things in terms of depth?

I believe it has a lot of depth. The mosnters don't always just evolve, you got to find out how to and without a guide there is a lot to learn. By today it may not seem as in-depth, but mainly because those things that formerly were secrets are now well known facts.
In my eyes RPG and Strategy are the strongest parts of the game.

It's rock paper scissors strategy.

It is a strategy game you have to predict what your opponent is going to do and the game is turn based so you have to plan what your going to do next

Predict from one of four moves! Incredible!

It's actually much more.
It involves breeding the pokemon with the right stats, min-max'ing the right stats, choosing the 4 skills that create your strategy so your pokemon is able to fight the right opponent at the right time with a strategy that is as little counterable as possible and as reliable as possible.

For example I trained my lucio to maximum special attack, eventhough i could have trained him for physical attack.
I tought him 4 well chosen attacks that are effective or at least normal towards any pokemon my Lucio may encounter.
This makes my Lucio an extremely viable PvE fighting pokemon with which I easily can beat even the Top4 with only this one pokemon.

However there are also pokemon with a special ability, that for example inverts stats changing effects.
My Sepiroyal has the inverter ability and learned Leafstorm, so every time it attacks with the very strong Leafstorm attack, it doesn't lose 2 tiers of special attackpower, instead it gains it.
However this attack is easily counterable so I still have to consider which other attacks I teach my Sepiroyal, since Leafstorm is a plant property attack and may not deal much damage to a fire pokemon.
