It also depends on the settings you use for the F2P game. If you try to milk the F2P game to much with MT's then the game might get unpopular dispite the good rating.
In any case, I have released the same game as an MMO and as F2P. The F2P version made me around 1 bil over a long time and the MMO version made me around 5 bil in the same time frame.
A succesful MMO is more fuzz though as you need to release frequent MMO add-ons to keep the game popular and to keep the subs up.
My experience after 50 hours gameplay is that late game consoles and MMO's is the route to go, but don't take this as a fact :)
Ohh.. and the fanbase seems to be a big factor on the market share and sales totals. More fans = more profit.
