You can hold more weapons you just have to get the backpack item to increase your weapon quantity.

backpack increases the "quantity" stat for how many shots you fire, not inventory space

Yeah its a demo but its still a good idea to pitch this early. Mod support is an absolute godsend for a game's longevity and getting the system in place for it sooner rather than later is a good idea.
