I'm curious.
Edit:
It seems my constant reloading and using the elevator has caused the game to save at the moment of the blackout.
Of course you could still very easily end up in a no-win situation due to a lack of O2/heat/supplies. But at least you might have a chance.
I was thinking about that, but if it rebooted how you would you decide what systems came back online? I figure central control would be a given, but if you had a lot of stuff powered up, would it all come back online, or only the location you're at? If only central and the location you were at were powered at the time it failed, does it really give you another chance? Seems like it would just fail again.
Treat it like a computer, which it basically is: when a computer has a BSoD error, it reboots. On startup, it only brings back the essentials. Some computers even go into Safe Mode as a precaution.
I think it'd be nice to have this function, and when the gennie restarts, Central and the sector you're in remain powered but nothing else. Another minor penalty is that your infection control in other sectors will be terminated. If they ever put in the 'defeat the infection' condition, that would be REALLY bad for you.
It wouldn't make sense for the generator to return to the state that caused the overheat, anyways.
How does the generator know which sector you're in? A simple sci-fi excuse is that it scans for ♥♥♥♥-sapien lifeforms in the sectors.
dont laugh..
we were thinking of west has to manually labour himself to return to the base.. by riding one of those.. mine cart stuff.. and has to constantly hit the button to propel himself.. lol.. like the ones in the old west movie.. haha..
...Hahahaha! That would be a hilarious Easter egg for unfortunate players that didn't plan ahead. I'd actually like to see that some day. :X
