Subterrain

What's with the bathroom breaks Subterranean?
why not make it an "immersion" opition instead of a draconian need that must be paid attention to? YOU ACTUALLY MAKE THE PLAYER HUNT FOR A BATHROOM? LOL that is the stupidest thing I have ever seen in any game I've ever played. The developers must be fans of the SIMS....it should be an option and why is the interface so bare bones? Equippiing is a chore , it's more than a chore it's a puzzle in the beginning of the game! I don't get it, looks like a cool game , seems like a cool game but it isn't because you messed it up with too much detail and not enough playablity and if you don't know what that is I sure can't teach you. Playability every gamer knows what it is why doesn't the maker of this game understand it? Very odd?

When you play this game you actually have to take your character to the bathroom , once to pee and once to poop...becasue he won't do both at the same time , he's too shy.....LOL ....I don't think if he runs into a monster he craps himself though but I could be wrong? I tried to like this game but it's just twisted , looks good but not for me. i wish they would fix it but I ain't gonna hold my breath becasue it's probably not going to happen. SO like many turkey's I've bought in the past , wasted good money on , I will delete it.

This sounds a lot more like suggestions/feedback, so moving it there.

You really don't have to go to the bathroom that often. To address your complaints: there are a ton of bathrooms on every floor of every section, not going to the bathroom has minimal weight to your character's status (it's not "draconian", in other words), and he will do both "number 1" and "number 2" at the same time.

I'm not sure why you used that as your title for your post, though, considering all the other complaints. I'm not exactly sure what the issue with equipping items is, because it sounds like you figured it out (double clicking isn't much of a chore, is it?), so it doesn't sound like it game's "playability" is a huge hurdle for you. According to reviews, many gamers (though obviously not "every") find this game playable, so this doesn't seem to be a real issue.

There's nothing to "fix", as they are design choices. In reality, this is just your preferences not being met by default; you don't like the game's mechanics and UI, which is fine, but I wouldn't say they are fundementally flawed or lack playability. I'd suggest a Steam refund if you dislike the game that much rather than tossing your money to the void.

Calling it a "need" is a bit... generous.
DedZedNub Aug 29, 2016 @ 9:01am
First, biology classifies the need to intake food and drink, as well as the need to eliminate waste products (that otherwise would poison the living organism) as needs. It also classifies procreation as a need, although obviously in humans it remains an option for individuals. The idea is that it is a need for a species to continue.

Second, there is an undercurrent among gamers that the only reason such a need, as having to take bathroom breaks, was never in a real-time game, was because it was seen as taboo. As in all forms of entertainment, there is always a push to go against the taboo, for reasons both good and bad.

In the case of gaming, especially real-time survival pc gaming, it becomes an even bigger issue. Elimination of waste products often puts most animals at a disadvantage during which time they are somewhat more vulnerable to attack. It also takes time. In a game that may be decided by the triumph of time over preparation, it can be seen as something worthy of depiction in a stylized but realistic manner.

The above themes are likely the currents in which this was developed. Mmkay? Good. Personally I find it just a humorous side tidbit that also allows for a tad of realism and reminds me, if too absorbed, that I might as well engage in a similar break in real life. Often I accompany it with a snack break.

It doesn't take much imagination to actually figure this all out. The impact of this activity itself within the game has only the most minor of significance, but it is there and you can use it to your advantage or not, like every other activity in the game.

It's too late for a refund but after playing it twice and dying so quickly and still not knowing why or how to solve the problem , the mere fact it is not obvious and I have to use detective work to assembe an oxygen tank leads me to the conclusion that this game is full of tedium of a similar nature which the Developer, ( I do not know if you are one of them or not....) , I assume, filled this game with and is his or her expression of a 'survival' type scenario style of their own design .

This is not to say I do not appreciate innovation or creativity , but in my opinion this is something else entirely and it is irritating , very irritating.

It is an artifice of frustration as is the 'retrro' or "indie' or 'spartan' equipment and crafting interface. I'm certain I could figure it out eventually but when there are better games with a more creative , intutive design as well as the fact that I do not exactly seek out or play games that I have to study to figure out the simplest of tasks , although some of the game is playable , it is crippled by design flaws that detract from the flow of gameplay and this error of design... which of course you will say is my opinion , and my opinion is an experienced one , which is also my opnion, a confident opinion I might add,

I gave the game a chance but i was too slow to get a refund which is exactly what I should have done on day one. You are correct in that much , all the other things you said in your post is YOUR opinion and if you are the developer of this game or had a hand in making it , I can see your motivation.

You know what else is irritating and tediuos? Having to reply to your post in detail ....I will never buy a game from this developer again. Bathroom breaks in this game are the stupidest thing I have ever seen in this genre. Unless it's done for the sake of humor.

I just can't take a game seriously when my character has to pee and take a dump every 5 or 10 minutes there should be an option and even to place that in the option menu would be proof of just how ridiculous it is. I'd really like to be a fly on the wall when it's discussed how it should be worded if it were implemented , I'd like to see a youtube video of it.....I would imagine the discussion would take an hour or more unless of course it's only one person?

I can only imagine the end result ...Defecate check yes or no....frequency 5, 10 , 20 minutes Urinate check yes or no .....Frequency....5, 10 ,20 minutes....FLUSH OR NO FLUSH < WIPE OR NO WIPE.....TOILET use option.....do you get it now? Why doesn't he need to shower and brush his teeth? You could have flies buzzing around him when he starts to stink...

.INot only do you have Zombies , Aliens , Lack of Oxygen , Radiation , you also have to use the damn bathroom? LOL ....it's hard to believe but there it is.

You also have to find scarce water , whch may or may not be contaminated and food ...

.I guess whoever made this game considered themselves a purist to detail? Who knows?

What about shaving? lol ...clipping the old finger and toe nails? You could use the clippings as crafting materials?

What about the old toilet paper hunt? That's DLC probably....save it for later.

Hell yeah I would have loved a refund. Too late now.

I bascially just wanted to share my frustraton about a game I thought looked good but seriously dispponted me barely out of the gate.

It's getting harder and harder to find a decent game on Steam and this game is a perfect example of why that is.

Maybe someone who makes games or buys them will read it and feel the same way I do and therefore this sort of game can be avoided in the future , people won't get ripped off or disappointed or pissed off over a game. Quality might improve , hope springs eternal.

you know you make a good point , they should use it in the advertisement for the game. TABOO BROKEN FINALLY! BATHROOM BREAKS FOR YOUR CHARACTER , FULFILL A BIOLOGICIAL NEED! Oh yeah , that would really be a selling point now wouldn't it? Why not have his bladder explode if he doesn't get to the bathroom in time? Have them kidneys explode right out of his back and blood shoot all over the place he pees all over the floor and zombies dive on him and eat his remains?

It could be another way to kill your character! Awesome.....lol...naw stupid as hell is what it is.

You're a pompous one aren't you? Want to know a game with Humor in it ? My kind of Humor? Broforce....now that game has humor. Having to use the toilet in a game is not funny. not to normal people. It could be, but in this game it is not funny. I do not seriously think it was even meant to be. Really...

Basically what im seeing here is "games too hard, im not smart enough to read things 0/10 game" Youre acting like the bathroom mechanic is such a hinderance that it actually forces you to go out of your way to take a dump. Bathrooms are so commonly found that you can honestly just wait till you stumble upon one to go. Takes 2 seconds and you can probably find some meds or junk with chem mats for taking that 2 second detour. As for the equipment, if being able to hotkey it to a quick slot, double clicking the item from your inventory, and simply dragging and dropping it on the slot are all too difficult for you to figure out, i honestly dont know what to tell you. Youre acting like this game is some abomination to gaming but the truth is that you yourself with your entitled attitude is the real abomination here.

it's not a matter of intelligence on my part , It's a matter of patience and an appreciation of quality. . I do not like this game , you didn't get that though, so I have to come out and say it. I don't like the mechanic , the design , the top down view , the toilet breaks , the fragmented crafting system, the artificial 'difficulty' and instadeath , I have hundreds of other better choices so I do not have to 'take the time ' to do a damn thing except delete this piece of crap. I am entitled to get my money's worth when I buy a game , I am entitled to honesty in advertising, I did not say the game was an 'abomination' whatever the hell you mean by that who knows? You must be a bible thumper or something....lol...I've never heard anyone call a game an abomination before in fact you used it twice....when you "pay to play' a game you too should feel entitled to at the very least , be entertained. That is what games are for. ENTERTAINMENT. You do I don't why elevate the matter to a religious experience , it only cost me 10 bucks. I don't really care anymore I already deleted it.

Couldn't even post in the right part of the forums, but claims "it's not a matter of intelligence on my part , It's a matter of patience and an appreciation of quality. ". What a crock!
