Does France actually ever invade Britain?

Title says it all, playing Empire & Napoleon I have never seen France, or any nation for that matter actually land an army of any size on the isles; even on 'very hard'!

If you play as France or Napoleon you might want to. If you mean will France invade if its cotroled by the AI, then no. If you play as napoleon in europe I'd say invade. Early in the campaign Napoleon is the only one with military advancements in tech and the only one that starts with an experianced and large army. (if you combine the other two armies near him on first turn) So invasion playing Napoleon is fairly easy as long as you can avoide the british navy. On empire however, its easy to take irland, and scottland, but you have to attack london with multiple armies (full strengh) in a mass assault one after one. Trust me I've tried playing as America on part 4 of RTI it will work as long as you control most of the Americas and have biult up prestige and a good navy.

Thanks for the feedback dude, the question was does France ever invade whilst playing as the Britain. I'll take it they pretty much never! Makes it slightly boring playing as Britain, I guess! :/

[actually,you can invade great britain you just have to go across the english channel but other than that sure why not.i for one conquerd london but it wasn't that easy.thats why i auto-resolved the battle but i still got it.but anway if you are playing as britain do never leave and go off to spain.because when i went there i saw france get on to their navy and sil to the my motherland country.if you are france than you are in luck.

Yea i've never saw the ememy move units into ships apart from scripted events as in egyptian campagne. I havnt seen the CPU capture great britian ether. so no they wont

If you are using a mod it might be different, on the basic game on any difficulty the AI is pretty awful, with Darthmod its a bit better although artillery units will often still sit idle during a battle, the enemy are a bit more proactive in battles. I have playing as the British using a mod seen enemies try to land troops on britian, but I've sunk their navy .

Tactically, invading britain isnt really a priority for French AI anyway, being as they are diverted continuously to reinforce or attack on eastern borders, the Austrians/Russians/Prussians will always present more of a threat than Britain does. I've found when playing the French I will always deal with at least Prussia/Austria before giving any consideration to Britains' land forces.

Playing any faction other than France unfortunately doesnt produce much of a challenge, on the flip side I've just been roundly beaten as the British in the Penninsula campaign as a result of overextending, considering the IA's aggressiveness would be low on hard even I overextended and the French took advantage and mopped up my undefended towns while I was striving for a quick victory.

In summary, use Mods for more of a challenge, the darthmod is even better because it doubles unit sizes so they are very close to realistic battaltion sizes.

Yes, I've played Great Britain in NTW and France has invaded Albion, the French being led by Boney himself (only I couldn't get to wound him in-battle, not even with Sharpe's riflemen), I couldn't believe it actually happened to me ingame.

actually if you are either britain or france you still invade britain or france but you might want to
be france mostly since they are pirsice and elite.and watch out if you declare war on prussia,
and spain.one time prussia formed an alliance with me just because of tring to conquer austria.

France never invaded Britain they actully lost half their army in Russia then they tried to send an army to Britain and lost the navel batttle due to Britain having the best navy in that time period

Napoleon is heavily scripted, and as the French navy were largely useless against the Royal navy, the game wont launch invasions across the sea against them as it would be Historically silly to do so. After Trafalgar much of the remaining French navy remained blockaded in port.

However, many of the Battle ai mods make all AI countries more inclined to launch invasions from the sea, if you want to see more naval invasions I would suggest you dig out one of them.

Historicly France tried once in wales but surrended as soon as they saw women dressed in red, which they thought were the British army coming to attack them.
