Greetings!
Heavy Cav = Defensive = Counter cav
1 heavy cav can beat 3 light cav guarentee (But not if its being sniped)
its useful for say taking the hill in the Galacia ria or Italian grasslands (where its normally a cav scrum)
Its usful for defending behind your lines when paired with a lancer cav (lancer hits head on while curias flanks around then engages enemy flank and rear... pls don't just charge them into the backs of your own lancer like most people)
Basically Heavy cav is useless for killing infantry since they CA didn't bother to give them extra damage like say cannon horses (which can take 50 bullets each horse or more for some reason)
BTW Historically All Curiass were tested to withstand hits from a musket ball (proved on mythbusters at point blank ranged) however they could not stand up to modern riflled bullets due to stonger cassing and higher muzzel velocity
