Game won't start

So I got Napoleon and Empire for Christmas, installed Empire on the 25th, and it worked fine. Installed Napoleon today, and it won't even start. I press the play button, my icon says I'm playing the game, and then about a second later it says I'm not playing anything. I've restarted Steam, but it still does it. Any ideas on how to fix it?

I got the game a few weeks ago and have the same issue. I have not been able to get it to work. However, this may work for you. Click on Napoleon total war then go to Steam in the top left corner and then go to setttings go to Beta and make sure its turned on. A download will appear and then you can play hopefully.

i got the same problem but i got a mod i deleted wrong so i needed to delete it the right way

I got the same problem. I bought the game for Christmas, and it won't start. I push the "play" button, steam say i'm in game, the game launch for like 1 second and then it quite without reason. I uninstalled it and download it again, but it doesn't resolve the problem... And verifiying the cache too (It said there's a miss folder and it will download it, but all i can do is to close the window, and there's no download.)
I can play the game on another computer with the same files and the same version of windows 8.

I have exactly the same issue. The game simply does NOT start AT ALL. Getting pretty frustrated about steam support. Tried everything that they advised and the game still does not launch. By the look of it seems like there is a problem with Steam or their data is getting corrupt.

Just bought the game and am having the same issue. The first time I launched the game I got the intial setup and it installed successfully, but the game did not launch. After that, I click launch and I get the loading icon on my mouse cursor for half a second, then nothing happens. Tried installing new graphics drivers, directx is up to date, and rebooted. Verifying the game cache says one bad file that will be reacquired, but doesn't do anything else.

I also get the 1 file failed to verify and apparently this happens to everyone so that is not the problem. I have had the issue for 10 months now, and I feel sorry for you that you fell into the trap like I did. I need a miracle to play Napoleon Total War at this rate.

yes i have did this many times and my game will not respond at all, it wont even open the application, plzzz help.

game was ok on win7. but after i upgrade to win10 its not working anymore. might need a win10 patch or something.

Its an Asus with nvidia gtx 960.. the game wont even launch.. i tried verifying the integrity of the cache and it said 1 file was missing then it didnt proceed to downloading that file. im on windows 10.. i think lots of people have had trouble with there asus laptops on a variety of games

Guys there is a word for our current predicament. It starts with F and ends in d. No not fried, we have been ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over! This is not an isolated issue. If you read the TOW forums it is rife with people reporting a similair issue, namely that this game does not run. I have had the game in my steam librabry for 2 years and I have tried absolutely everythin imaginable for it to work and it still despite all my efforts refuses to play. I've let the game go. RIP Napoleon.

i wish we could get a refund.. what computer do u have? what games do work for u im lookin for to get 1.. i have total war medieval 2 and it works its a really good game and is probably really cheap right now

ive got an asus with gtx btw and this is the second game that wont work for me

i got napoleon about 3 days ago and it worked fine until i uninstalled darthmod. It launches it for about a second then says it has an application error

Most mods for napoleon total war end up doing this. All you need to do is either delete the mod and re - install the game, or verify integrity of game cache. The latter sometimes works, however, other times it may not be enough. When you re - install the game, uninstall it, then go to the file directory.

C\Program files (X86)\Steam\steamapps\common\

And delete the napoleon total war folder. Once it has deleted, and do delete it because normally there are a few files left over and I have found them to interrupt things with the game. After you delete it, then reinstall via steam.
