You need to manouver your troops in such a way they won't be flanked or take preventable casualties.
Cover your flanks, dont be afraid to fall back when you have two enemy units shooting at one of your own and you have no way to make them stop or send in a new unit.
Don't run your troops everywhere, they'll tire and fight worse.
Don't send light infantry into a melee with Grenadiers, they'll get chewed up.
Don't engage in a shootout with enemy elite infantry or lights: Either send in horses, flank them with multiple units or use artillery.
Don't forget to send your general near wavering units to rally them and bolster their morale: It can mean the difference between holding the line and a flank breaking.
Etc. Etc.
Just a few examples of measures you can take.
Keep at it, you'll get a feel for how it all works and when you do, it's really enjoyable.
But first and foremsot, can you give me exampleso f what you're talking about? What settings and mods (if any) are you using?
Etc.
Figures. So, what examples can you give of this stuff happening? Knowing how the cookie crumbled will help us fixing it.
Well start by telling us what your armies normally look like:
What units do you bring? What nation do you usually play as?
How many skirmish or light infantry units do you usually have?
How many line infantry do you bring?
Do you bring elite troops? If yes, what kind?
What does your cavalry selection look like?
Do you play with artillery? If yes, how many and what kind?
Then tell us how a battle usually goes for you:
What does your starting setup look like?
What units do you have in front? What do you place on your flanks?
Do you keep units in reserve or do you spread out?
Where is your cavalry when you start out?
Then once you engage the enemy:
Do you have problems with enemy cavalry?
Do you advance? If yes, how? All at once or piecemeal? Or do you let the enemy come to you?
Do you manouver and have units fire-at-will, or do you issue attackorders?
If you move units, how do you do it and where do you send them?
If you attack the enemy, what does that look like? What do you attack with and where?
What is the enemy doing once you start losing units/once your army starts routing?
What does the enemy army look like?
How does the enemy attack you and where? (flanks/center, etc)
And so on and so on...
We kinda need an idea of the battles you fight, in order for us to understand what goes wrong and for us to be able to help you.
