During the 18th century it was common for soldiers of smaller powers like Poland, Norway, and Denmark to serve in the Armies of Germany, Great Britain, and France. Obviously they would need to learn the language of the army in which they were fighting.

I'm not saying you are wrong but I'm sure around that time, the Danes and Norwegians only spoke German while serving in a German army. I'm sure the Danes spoke Danish and the Norwegians spoke Norsk while serving in the armies of their lands...

That doesn't mean they care, though. You need only look at their roster of games for proof.
