Napoleon TW; starting crash fixed
I hope this note helps someone else fix this annoying problem easily.

Napoleon: Total War would crash while loading a campaign after the Campaign choice page, with two separate crash errors in succession.

The game literally suddenly stopped working for me yesterday, but I got it working again today, after many, many hours of trying.
It seems like I tried many solutions suggested for Napoleon: TW and other crashing Steam games here and online on the web and at some Youtube channels.

What finally worked for me was this;
I backed up my saved_games at \user\YourName\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Napoleon, to another separate drive, then I deleted the complete Napoleon folder (which included the original saved_games folder).
After this, I restarted the game and it worked.
I then copied my saved_games folder from the other drive back to \user\YourName\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Napoleon and now I have all my saved games working.

The other things I tried that didn't immediately work but may have contributed to my success were giving the Napoleon.exe Administrator privileges, setting the compatibility to Windows 7, going to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Napoleon Total War\redist and double-clicking vcredist to reset it. I also did the same with DXSETUP to reset it (in the DirectX folder). I also flushed the Steam cache, and uninstalled and reinstalled Napoleon: TW and Steam a number of times, verified the integrity of the game files, and set preferences via the preferences file to 1920x1080 (line 2 and 3).
But I think the process first detailed above may be the optimal solution.

See you in MP campaign mode some time soon. :steamhappy:

I'm playing Darthmod & every time I take a certain Austrian Town on the first campaign map the game just quits completely. I was used to Napoleon Total War being a completely crash free Total War product, but I don't know now.

No crashes happened tonight. Maybe because I started Napoleon TW by via inside STEAM.

This is what I've discovered. Darthmod for NTW must be started from inside the STEAM website for it to work properly. If you have one internal Wi-fi connector & the ROUTER cancels, your game will quit back to STEAM. However, if you have also a USB Wi-fi device, you can plug that one in and make it so both the internal Wi-fi and the USB Wi-fi device are both connected & working with the same ROUTER. Then I believe your game will not quit. Plus, download time of games in your library, or those newly purchased will be a lot quicker.
