Cannon sound not working?
Anyone else noticing this? After the update everything else makes a sound but not the cannons when they fire. You can here the cannon balls hitting the ground but no firing sound from the guns.

I have had this too since the latest patchy. No 6/12 iber artillery nor Prussian jaeger gun sounds. Line infatry seems to be working normally. Tried verifying steam files and re-installing, didnt help. Very annoying...

I submitted a support ticket to CA regarding this issue.

Following this topic, Sega support recommended me to remove the file preference.script.txt under path C:\Users\your Username\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\

This did not solve the issue

Yeah, that was the first thing I tried. I removed all the preference script and uninstalled the game. Then did a fresh reinstall and verified the files. The cannons still do not make a sound and neither do German Jaegers. I'm pretty sure when they merged the files something was broken.

I suppose we'll all just have to hope someone at CA notices this, lest we get stuck with silent cannons for the rest of this game's lifespan.

Please open a ticket to Sega Support, the more tickets the better response we could get, at least to give a try...

I see this will be the only solution to me. I have Intel 10th gen CPU and for me I was ok with the previous NTW version, this one is a big disappointment.

In my experience CA never fails to disappoint since R2TW release :)

I have the same problem. Does this bug only affect the vanilla game, or is it present for the mods as well? NTW3 mod released a hotfix for the new patch by the way, but I haven't tried it yet.
Playing with DarthMod. Cannon sounds are gone after the "patch". Another a shameful display from CA and their SEGA masters. ♥♥♥♥ that...

I dont play mods at the moment, I played before, but I can imagine if they removed the patch files and removed an essential part of the code linked to that sounds no mod will fix it so I would expect the same behaviour than vanilla with any mod. The other option is that the code they applied to make this game compatible with Intel 12th gen messed up random sounds.

In my opinion they did not test the game enough before releasing this update.

Yes, I will do so. It will be absolutely unforgivable to leave this game without such import bits of audio. Who wants to play a black powder strategy game when they can't hear cannons or bits of musket fire?

So vanilla, no mods, cannon sound is still broken for me, but trying the 'mac fix' broke all in game sounds for me. Im genuinely confused as to what the hell this update did that the game is acting this out of sorts.

They merged some of the files to increase performance when it comes to the loading of assets in battle. Good. However, in doing so, they seem to have broken a few strings of code pertaining to certain sounds. Very bad. This is something that cannot be fixed by modders as we do not have access to that code. Even worse.

So all we can do now is hope the one person that delivered this update at Creative Assembly notices the myriad of bugs that they accidentally caused and decide to fix it. Either that, or this game will stay like this forever.
