You have to autoresolve every battle with the ai if the other player will not take part in the battle.
This is to prevent the other player just idling while you fight.
You can only fight battles against each other or if you both do coop against the enemy ai.
Well if you make an alliance with your friend and both your armies attack the enemy then it will be a coop battle.
Like so many others it seems caesar is the new expert on all matters lmfao
?????
If it is the option is grayed out, then I would make the guess that when you started the campaign and went through the campaign options before launching, you checked the box to always 'auto-resolve battles'. I am pretty sure you can not uncheck that option and will have to start a new campaign with the correct option....'fight battles', which you can always auto resolve anyways if it is a cheapo battle.
