[Darth Mod] Ready to give up on this game
Playing the latest Darth Mod.

Love this game, the strategy, the epic battles, the atmosphere, the music, it's brilliant.

But I suck at it. Can't get anywhere as Russia, I get steamrollered by AI France. Love playing Prussia, but get steamrollered by AI France. Forget playing any smaller nations - even playing as Denmark, France eventually knocks on the door at Copenhagen (see a pattern here?).

But - I can't even win when playing AS THE FRENCH!

Every game its the same, I lose, badly. Whatever I play.

Enjoy starting in the game and building up my nation, don't enjoy getting steamrollered by AI France every damn game.

Ready to give up on this game, it's just too hard for me, even at easy campaign difficulty.

You don't build your nation, this is not Empire, you conquer other nations.

I can't even do that. For example as Prussia I take the German faction to the north-west but they soon rebel and cause me problems. And then the French come by, as always.

Strange, they've never rebelled for me. Did you remember to have your army stay over until the assimilation was over?

I kept a full garrison in the city for many turns - they still rebelled.

I'm now trying as France and getting beaten back by the combined forces of Austria, Prussia, Great Britain, and Russia.

I do not understand. Peasants simple do not rebel and I've finished the campaign on VH/VH on France and all the major nations. Do you loot the cities? If you don't, they'll need less suppression.

Try as England, aside frm the naval component, I think they are the best for a smooth start and transition to middle and late game. Also, tear down any buildings that might cause unrest and build ones that cause happiness in cities that you take, as well as put gentleman agents in those prone to rebellion to help alleviate the ugliness.

Thanks for the tips. I've tried Great Britain in the past but didn't know where/who to invade with my limited armies. I always got beaten back. But at least the French don't invade GB :)

Playing as GB. Find I am spending all my time reacting to French naval blockades on my various dockyards. Their raids are relentless. I've sunk tons of their ships but they just seem to have a never-ending supply. I'm pretty sure the British Navy was bigger than the French one at this time?

Been building my economy up, taken ages due to the Frog raids. Only now have enough money for 2 stacks. Don't know where to send them.

Where the French aren't...attack poorly defended areas or better yet, make a couple of quick raids and burn their dockyards. You can leave a crap unit to hide in the woods somewhere and come out and reburn it after they fix it all up and then go hide again.

Gave up with GB couldn't get anywhere. Now trying as Sweden. Invaded Frisia and fought 3 close battles, finally took the region but then the Dutch besieged me on the same turn with a full stack.

I've found looting makes the faction *more* likely to rebel, so it's not helpful.

Denmark was way too strong and had 3.5 stacks, a lot more than I could muster. So I didn't attack my neighbour.

Now trying Empire: TW. Finding it *much* easier than Napoleon. Carving out a small empire as Prussia. Does the Darth mod make Empire that much better?

I truly hate the French in Napoleon: Total War. I'm sitting nice and quietly in my corner of Europe and then they just gotta come rolling through, aggressively provoking me into war and then crushing me. It really made me emphathise with all of the coalitions that fought against France, even though I'm irl a huge fan of Napoleon. My first real attempt at the European campaign was as Prussia, and I thought that with Austria, Russia and Great Britain on my side France wouldn't dare attack me..... I was wrong.... and they destroyed me.

Yeah, it does.
Napoleon is one of the easiest tw game in my opinion ... As Prussia you should ally with every coalition faction and try and bring over some minor nations against the french ...Merge up all of your armies and then go attack saxony and leave lots of landwher. The minor nations get steamrolled by France and then you go attack the french while they are weak .Also help Austria and Russia in battles , you are going to find them useful allies .Also try and keep your income over 2000 and recruit some more troops you are going to need them ... no need to leave Gebhard at the border with Russia , as I said , bring over all of your generals and units except the landwer..Focus on the French and strenghten your position in CLeves Mark , and try and focus on Hannover , this is gonna connect your territories...After you kill the french by turn 30 or 40 , try and get some good economics and make GB and Russia to break their alliance with Austria or what you may think ...You'll start to get territorry and must keep good relations with the surrounding nations , when you have a vast territorry you must guard it well ...I managed to kill the French by taking all of their territories and i am making 11k per turn with 4 stacks including musketeers , Dragoons , 12lb cannoncrew and lights(fusiliers)...Also some landwher stacks at the borders , to ... you know , defend ....Or you can watch youtube (Malakith Skadi or ColdMeat247 , or some other youtubers , not necesarry popular)...Oh and i am playing on hard/hard.You must be patience when you play Napoleon and you must make every decision wisely ...(Sorry if i have any grammatical problems , i am romanian :) )However , i wish you good luck and don't give up on napoleon :P
