In my own experience (I mean, this could be totally wrong) this happens due to memory fault for some battle or movement involving the AI. So the only solution I have found in my campaigns is to prevent that battle for happening. I keep 3 or 4 incremental savegames, so I can roll back my campaign a few turns and change my movements. But eventually, other crash is most likely to happen again.
But as I said, there is virtually nothing you can do. NTW3 is awesome, but due to the game's limitations, campaigns tend to be more and more unstable as the late-game progresses
But after so many time and campaigns, I usually mark my own specific conditions for each campaign, so usually I play very very long campaigns. Achieving regular victory conditions is kind of possible, perhaps not every campaign, but definitively possible.
If you play NTW3's campaigns you have to acknowledge from the very beginning that it is likely you will not end it, and you just like to play it. Lately I find more enjoyable to play all historical battles one by one... as long as your processor can handle that many units :)
(with these method I've managed to bypass all end turn CTD's so far, haven't played NTW3 THAT much though but yeah, try it at least)
Do you know where I can download this mod without going to the site it shows, as it forces the download into taking 10 hours (for only 1.47Gb, which I can prob download in 15 to 20min). And the gamefront files dont even exists so i'm just guessing this mod cant even be installed.
I would imagen torrent would go faster, just download bittorrent then the mod.

From bittorrent website about seeding.
What is seeding?
Last Updated: Sep 16, 2016 11:56AM PDT
Seeding is where you leave your BitTorrent client open after you've finished your download to help distribute it (you distribute the file while downloading, but it's even more helpful if you continue to distribute the full file even after you have finished downloading). Chances are that most of the data you got was from seeds, so help give back to the community! It doesn't require much - the client will continue seeding until the torrent is removed (right click the torrent, then hit Remove). Proper practice is to seed until the ratio of upload:download is at least 1.00.
